Crossroads Dentistry, Give me some feedback!

Post by PumpkinStalker »

So now that I'm a downtown local, I'm thinking of changing dentists.  I've made an appointment at Crossroads Dentistry based on what I saw when I went in to look at art during First Friday's.  Can anyone lend some first hand experience?  Likes, Dislikes....

As long as Dr. Dan doesn't try to do anything with sharp instruments or drugs you should be fine.....&

Seriously, I'd check their Yellow Pages ads -- or Web site, if they have one -- to see if they highlight things such as specializing in fearful patients or offering lots of audio and video to kill time during visits. Basically look for stuff that matters to you.

Ah, If you have not seen Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman, it's a must before getting a new dentist.

^^ Yes. Any dentist will look good after that.

Or maybe not.

I checked their website, and it looked like a professional and clean place when I went in.  I'm not a squirmish person around dentists, I just want a place that people are satisfied with service.  Does he run a good practice, seem competent, etc.

Never seen the movie...a good one eh?

I think most states now have on-line databases where you can check for complaints and to see how long a particular dentist has been in practice or where he/she got his/her degree.

The movie is a little dated now, but a good one to watch when you can really devote yourself to it.

Biked to the dentist today, how flippin awesome is that?

Overall, good experience.  I will say the x-rays were the most painful part.  In the two years I haven't been to a dentist, things have changed.  Now they use some instant x-ray gadget that feeds the image straight to their computer.  The x-ray capturer thing was a big squared edged hunk of plastic and metal which clearly was not tried and tested for oral ergonomics before being put into production.  Overall, good experience.  Dr. Flemming's best man at his two weddings was Butch Rigby, of Screenland fame and they're close friends.

Did you get gassed? My favorite thing about going to the dentist is being gassed.

That's a negative, ghost writer.  Luckily nothing was needed to be done in the mouth that required gas.

Well I didn't know he was so loose with the gas!  I'll have to stop by sometime and then try to bicycle home all gassed.

The gas wears off pretty quick. It's fun stuff though. One time I hallucinated that I was driving a Toyota Tercel convertible with my hands holding the steering wheel and my legs and feet flailing in the wind behind me.

Just don't go to those crooks in the Commerce Arcade....I've heard they attempt to do everything to your mouth in one visit...of course I heard this after they tried the same to me and everybody confirmed it...I went back to my old school dentist I've had for 15+ years...worth the drive.

Tell me how they were, maybe I'll try another switch.

Dr. Steve Rueb in the Traders Bldg, 12th and Grand, is a great dentist.

Wasn't there a dental horror flick featuring Benny Stohlwitz from LA Law?
