Downtown Dry Cleaners

Post by CityLiving »

Does anyone have a good dry cleaner they would recommend in the downtown area (CBD/Crossroads/Crown Center)?

Thank you!

I'd like to piggy back off that and ask for one that's open after 5 or on Saturday.  :)

a check of google maps shows no dry cleaners in the loop or crossroads.

my building has someone from arrow come by on thursdays to pick up/drop off. when i worked at sprint we had the same service at the campus. it's a huge time-saver since -- as kard noted -- they are rarely open very late. you might call around and see if any of the big chains (plaza ford ideal, arrow) offer pick-up at a location near you?

In & Out in the Commerce Bank building does dry cleaning--open til six weekdays I believe.  Plaza Ford Ideal has a drop off at my building and pick up daily, if there is no drop off service in your building currently check with them.

Want to share that I recently witnessed a bit of bad business by Plaza-Ford Ideal, where they did not honor a business arrangement that they themselves initiated and in fact they were nasty about it.  It happened to a friend and I was present to see it happen.

After years of using them I am now looking for an alternative, too.

That sure isn't much detail.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with the man on my route.

It's called Plaza-Ford Ideal? Sounds like a car dealership.

Would you recommend this place next to Willie's?  I remember seeing they have a drop-off window for drive-thru service.

I've tried In and Out. They are ok, but they starch shirts when I ask them not to and crease pants when I ask them not to, and staple the tags to the fabric (which I ask them not to).  That's why I am seeking alternatives.  The In and Out people were friendly though.

Here's a more environmentally friendly option for a cleaner that I believe provides pickup and delivery service throughout KC.

www.hangerskc.com

It even looks like your first $30 of cleaning is free.  I'm trying to become more green so I will be checking them out.

thanks for reminding everyone how disastrous dry cleaning is for the environment (except for hangers). if it weren't for suits, i'd never have anything dry cleaned. the only thing i send out is dress shirts to be laundered and pressed. for sweaters, i use Dryel at home.

Royal Cleaners next to Willies is awesome.  They do a wonderful job and are open like 7-6, so they have good hours.  Thats where I have all my stuff done and you dont even need to get out of the car.  Same guy always working the window and picking up the stuff, great cleaners and very reasonable

Their actual location is on Strawberry Hill, just around the corner from EPA (613 North 6th Street, Kansas City, KS).  If you're working in the northern part of downtown, it might even be closer than Crown Center (though not really walkable).

If you're talking about Terry, the route guy, he's a really great guy.  The problem was with a manager and I am not comfortable putting out the details as they entail someone other than myself.  I did experience it firsthand and now can not do biz with them.

Fair enough I guess.  And yes Terry it is.

I don't want a dry downtown, nor do I want it any cleaner.

I cruised around the Hangers website, and all I can say is, WOW.  Along with the fact that they're eco-conscious, their prices are very competitive.  As if that isn't enough, they-

* donate 3% of their profit to urban core schools
* give senior citizens a 10% discount
* offer corporate discounts (maybe they'd do something along those lines if you can get everyone in your building to commit to them?)
* and my favorite perk is this: if you like Indigo Wild products*, they'll deliver those to you too, or you can place your order through
Indigo Wild then pick it up at the nearest Hangers location.

Great concept, from start to finish.

Never any issues with the place next to willie's here.  Really nice people, and yes, the same guy is always there.  I have my golf pants cleaned there and he always likes to talk golf with me, which is difficult due to his heavy accent.  Cash and check only.  I was six bucks short one day and he let it fly.  My wifre gave him a ten the next time, and he refused saying we are good customers.
