That name is pretty generic and sterile. It actually looks like it might be an interesting place to eat but if I just saw the name, I'd assume it was a health food store or a store that caters to weight lifters.
Yeah, sounds like a store not a restaurant. It's a franchise chain out of Vegas.

I couldn't decide which thread this best fits under, but they've added a video board onto the top of the Garment District entrance.

I noticed that yesterday as well. Wonder what that will be used for?

I did my best to snap a pic on the way home from work. Don't snap and drive, kids.

Maybe they should worry about filling the rest of the retail spaces they built out :dunno:

I have peaked McDonalds real estate team's interest in the space through a friend who's a franchise owner. I just can't imagine BK resigning, but I also can't remember how long of a lease they signed.
In-N-Out also may be heading to KC..

I realize that P&L targets mass appeal but it's clearly more of an adult destination than family. McDonalds maybe a better fit for Town Pavilion. Shake Shack or even In/Out should do well in P&L as BK replacement.

It was chef burger ...sad his mom investor was a crook.

McDonald's isn't coming downtown to that spot unless I don't understand how their franchising works...I thought a franchisee has rights over an area...and downtown is the midtown guys area and he closed the city center square McDonald's because he only wanted stores with drive ins.

Honestly don't think that space is big enough for a McDonald's or shake shack.

KC has an obsession with oversized sprawling restaurants. On the E Coast, many restaurants are smaller than the BK space if maybe only a few tables and probably often has 3X traffic.

Downtown KC really needs to grasp the walk-up counter with near zero seating where patrons use public seating. The BK spot has outdoor seating of its own as well as public seating in the center of block.

I think Shake Shack is completely overrated.

However, I'm sure it would do well and would be a fine addition/upgrade.

Yes, Chef Burger. I remember that his mom investor got fired, right?, and he had to sell Pizza Bella and close the burger place. Had 1924 Main too which became The Reiger. Had a good thing going all around. I wonder where he is now.

I remember Chef Burger having the walk up window that was brought up a couple posts up and did good business at the beginning. I think this town really wants to support local businesses. Put a Local Pig burger spot there and watch the crowd roll in. It seems they are starting to move this direction with P&L, but Cordish needs to quit trying to overthink some of their choices for tenants. Perhaps, they are just now starting to understand the market as referenced by the KC Joes restaurant and we'll see a move away from national retreads.

The shake shacks being built now are not the first one or a train station which are pictured.

I agree we have a tendency to want big restaurants here but even SS is building their places bigger than the BK space appears to be.

Chefburger was awesome though...I'd much rather have that back.

So your business plan for these burger joints is no revenue during the cold and rainy months?

Counter places with almost no seating do fine during winter on E Coast and other Midwest cities. It's different in an urban setting and it's something downtown KC restaurant owners have yet to adjust to, who come from running/working mega suburban pad site restaurants. But there are some, like places in City Market and a few others. The BK space would be considered an above avg sized spot in older urban cities.

Downtown (and Plaza) could use a lot more walkup counter places integrated with the street, especially along streetcar line.
