Looks like there is still 0% progress on tree abatement.

No stuff. If I had a bunch of home improvement jobs to do, removing a 15-foot tree from the roof would be somewhere up at the top of the list.

I will miss the tree growing from the roof.  I think it is romantic, but then I have slogged around the globe to 3rd world countries to get to the ruins.  Maybe they could  put an artificial tree on top for old time sake, or just leave it like the white tree at Minas Tirith.

Anyone know of pics of this tree?  I found one from street level showing it, but it wasn't a great view.

Kinda reminds me of trees growing in a silo in the country.

From the webcam it looks like they may be repouring Main and 14th streets in front of the Empire.  Does this mean they will be reopening main over the highway soon?

Actually I think they are doing it because it will be easier for the work crew to get around the area. Now that they have all of the Asbestos out of the Empire they can start work.

If they are finished with utility work, they should be able to get some of these streets at least partially open.  The contractor should need to close no more than one lane of the street to have room to work (so in many cases around here, one lane on each side of the street).

The Cordish offices in TP has some designer boards with samples of finishes, fabrics and colors for lobby rotunda and bathrooms.  Quite elegant and glamorous, way beyond what one would expect for a suburban warehouse megaplex and worthy of the home showplace of a huge cinema chain.

It looks like there is some activity at the Empire Theater.  On the webcam yesterday and today there has been a cherry picker around the roofline.  Can't tell what they are doing,  but at least something is happening.

stupid question..

original plans show the empire as a club or something to that effect..maybe House of blues?  But now I believe its going to be the AMC Empire Theatre...like movie theatre..is that correct?

Yes it is going to be an AMC theater and there still may be a small Jazz club or dance club built next to it.

Bt the way, How long was the tree growing on the southeast side of the theater? there could have been some serious damage under this area from the roots.

There's serious damage to almost all of the interior, not sure if the tree added much to what was already a mess in there.

Are you referring to the 13th & Baltimore block?

Yeah, sorry... I was trying to use the Master Thread Locator, which is broken, retyped the URL by hand, and screwed it up.
