If I remember, yes but it was only glass. This appears to be part of the structure itself so I hope it stays but you never know.

Hard to tell with those oblique views, but looks like those old initial renderings to me. Another 2 Light but with an outhouse on top.

KC approves Three Light subsidy in exchange for affordable housing
...
Chief among the incentives approved for Three Light, which will be The Cordish Cos.’ third luxury high-rise in the district, is a $17.5 million subsidy the city has agreed to pay for an underground garage for the Three Light — as it did for One Light and Two Light.

As part of a 2004 master development agreement governing development of the Power & Light District, the city agreed to subsidize garages for an unlimited number of Cordish apartment projects in the entertainment district for as long as 99 years.

The ordinance adopted Thursday shortens the 99-year term of the agreement by 58 years, caps the number of apartment towers the city must subsidize garages for at six and requires Cordish to redevelop the 12-story historic Midland office tower into 100 workforce, or affordable-rate, apartments.

The forced perspective of the first rendering makes the slope appear a little more drastic than it will really be. You can get a little better view from the second rendering.

I like it. It would look stupid if Two light were slanted too. I'm glad they decided not to slant two light, but I hope the keep the slant in Three Light.

One thing I noticed too about the new design from that aerial view, it is taller than the previous design. It appears to be closer to the height for Four Light (especially at the tip of the roof) than Two.

In the render, 4 Light appears to be about 34-36 floors
Hopefully, 4 Light ends up being closer to 40 floors.

Keep in mind, Walnut is the low point, so it’s possible for #4 to gain a floor or height over #2 just from geography

Anyone like me where I am psyched for this tower. I like the design a lot. Even though I don't live in KC, I have family who does so I can come out whenever so it is like my second home. I hope Three Light's design isn't changed between now and a groundbreaking. 30 floors and $130 Million is a solid investment. This tower could pull between 340-350 feet in height (merely a guess based on how One Cardinal Way is 29 floors at 334ft in height and Two Light is 250 feet at 24 floors. Ultimately, it depends on the ceiling heights in the rooms and lobby), so that's good. :D

Hord Coplan Macht? Humphreys & Partners?

Those are the ones that I know of that have worked on the past buildings.

Hord Coplan Macht. The design is clearly theirs based on neighboring Two Light and One Cardinal Way. Its like those two designs merged.

Very much like the StL development. Looks like this one has a full width shed roof while the one in StL is more like a parapet or penthouse.

this will be a great addition to the skyline. looking forward to seeing this go up. cordish may have gotten a good deal from the city when they first negotiated this but you can't deny they've done a lot for downtown.

based on this latest article we're now looking at an early 2019 start date for construction. I wonder what else is being changed in the design. The quote is at the very bottom of the article since a majority of it is focused on two light.

Three Light's design is still being hammered out, but construction is scheduled to start in early 2019

I don't buy the blame the city for the delay stuff either. This was always getting pushed back, as they've admitted to in city hearings.

i personally think cordish goaded the city into making a big deal out of affordable units to cover the delay on three light. stay woke sheeple!
