Lol me not getting excited about downtown stuff. I just created a whole website to track downtown stuff.

Double lol telling a downtown resident of over a decade what we are ready for.

Triple lol having the city manager show up for something that is already being downplayed to someone who lives works plays downtown exclusively and focused all buying goods/services decisions on what is downtown first.

You said it yourself, “not much I would be excited about”. I’m just responding to your comments, not telling you how you feel. I’ve also been a downtown resident for 10 years and actively involved for Cordish for 9. I’m not telling you as a fellow resident what downtown is ready for, I’m telling you what our research shows as of late 2017. We are so close, but not there yet.

I’m not overall downplaying it, overall it’s going to be great. I downplayed it to your personal satisfaction.

When "unique" was thrown in was when my excitement dwindled...before that I was stoked to hear what this was that would draw the city manager.

One company's research doesn't tell the whole story. Maybe cordish isn't ready to provide retail using their metrics, etc but that doesn't mean Downtown isn't ready for more retailers.

So what time can we expect this announcement to happen?

Do you know of any other developers actively looking to bring a TJ Maxx or Target downtown? Professionals have been hired and dozens of meetings over the last few years with major players in retail. We also have the benifit of seeing downtown retailers P&L’s. That’s a strong indicator of what the market is and isn’t ready for.

If my singlular useage of the word “unique” is enough to disappoint you and zap your enthusiasm, I’m sorry. If this place is as successful as it has proven to be in other markets, it will be a great addition to downtown.

Excited for them to join downtown and provide more choice to residents.

Let me tio you off to something though....garrment district and jos a bank arent "strong" indicators to overall downtown retail demands. Crown center as bad as it is would be a better indicator.

Current retailers downtown indicate the market can’t sustain more local retailers at the moment. We are almost there for major retail, but the right space has to be created. If you think Cordish is just going off the sales and data from the two tenants you listed, you severely underestimate them.

Of course current retailers are going to say that! Cordish- “Do you think you have enough business to support us adding some other retail businesses like yourself?”
Retailer- “No, absolutely not!” (Keep that competition far, far away.)

We don’t ask them their opinions for the exact reason you just stated. We do look at their financials, money talks....

What is the Three Light announcement? Is that slated for tomorrow?

Your own comment says you are using your retailers data.

Have we not had our coffee this morning? You have opinions and you have financials. I clearly stated we are using their data, not their opinions.

It wouldn’t be smart to waterdown the local retail market at this time. Cordish has working relationships with almost every major retailer in the country. As much as you and I want more retail as downtown residents, it wouldn’t be very responsible of Cordish to add more unless it’s a major national brand.
