Winslows and Jack stack. Still excited for plowboys even though it's almost certainly going to be lunch only.
There's also a 3 Little Pigs in the Crown Center food court. I don't think their meat is actually smoked, seems to be oven-cooked and mushy then slathered in their sauce. I'm hopeful Plowboys will be 100x better.
^I was thinking the same thing. 3 pigs basically brings the meat in from somewhere else and it doesn't quite work. It could work if properly executed and keeps meat warm w/out drying out or overcooking. But even then is highly likely shortcuts will eventually be taken. On premise outdoor pit is obviously ideal.

I think it has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Pitch article way back in September indicated Plowboys will bring the meat in from another location. They also cannot have a deep fryer and will not serve french fries at this location. Back then, they were only planning on staying open until 5:30 PM, which was their way of seeing if people want to takeout on the way home. I will never, for the life of me, see how you can afford to have someone man the store from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, but then you decide to shut down exactly then. I would love to see the numbers on how many people on average leave the loop in 30 minute increments each day. My guess is that the people most likely to get takeout are also the people leaving work later, but I guess I have no idea if those numbers are significant or not.

I'll reserve judgement until it opens, but this just reiterates that a Joe's KC or something else decent in the P&L with full smoking operation would just print money.

The only time I ever ate at this KFC was when I needed something fast before I hopped on the bus across the street. I got a RAW chicken sandwich. Unfortunately didn't realize until I was on the bus, but be sure I have never gone back :D .

No french fries? Lame.

How can they not have a deep fryer here? And bringing in meat from another location?

God this place is not making me very hungry.

This place sounds worse than Famous Dave's, and I didn't think that was possible.

Porky's BBQ out by Grain Valley doesn't offer fries either. Of course, they're only open three days a week and don't have a soda fountain either...

Not sure if I missed this, but are they going to be open at all on the weekends?

Agreed with everything you said. My brother lives at 11th/Walnut and was thrilled to see a legit BBQ place open next door, then totally bummed when I mentioned the likelihood of lunch-only hours. At least Plowboys is in a relatively quiet location. Worst offender remains the Mixx with their location in the heart of P&L; what a joke (not even open till 6PM!!).

Blow dry bar coming to Power & Light District and other P&L updates
Cleaver & Cork — with Local Pig’s Alex Pope at the helm — plans to open Feb. 26, and national chain Yard House is opening a location in the district this spring.

Latest Test Kitchen strongly implies it will be at Cleaver and Cork.

The Blow dry bar is being opened by the woman who won a $1m settlement from 96.5. Weird world.

Just to be clear, she is NOT a porn star, they said she was a porn star on 96.5, but got her mistaken with someone with a similar name who was in the porn industry.

And just a reminder, the comments by the users of KC Rag are theirs and theirs only and KC Rag and its wholly-owned subsidiaries are not responsible for the content of the comments of its users.

I got you. Was just referring to said incident not the merits or details therein.

Yea, The Rag is part of a mult-national consortium that owns Lockheed Martin, Monsanto, BP, and a downtown Jimmy John's.

NDTeve - I was totally kidding.

Wonder if 96.5, the pitch or anyone will pick up on this and give it a bad rap. That would be funny if she lost all that money in this business venture

they're not doing haircuts or coloring. I'm not style expert but wouldn't that eliminate 99% of men and most women from the place?

If they do catch on, wouldn't they even be in deeper if they tried to bad mouth it?

Just curious, why would Pitch or anyone else purposely give it a bad rap? I would assume 96.5 will stay far away from this.
