The Jones Ultra Pool
I heard that Cordish has two concepts ready to launch this summer.
1.) A roof-top bar and swimming pool. Located above Cosentinos.
2.) ???

Look like the pool and activity area could be planned for the eventual condo/hotel?

Maybe this is part of the health club?moderne wrote: Look like the pool and activity area could be planned for the eventual condo/hotel?
Cordish should manage a conceptual health club that is unlike anything in Kansas City. Maybe tie in a famous name with it.

Is it safe to assume that the health club is dead in the water at the moment? Doesn't appear that they have touched the space since the shell was complete.

what happened to the rumor about the YMCA?LenexatoKCMO wrote: Is it safe to assume that the health club is dead in the water at the moment? Doesn't appear that they have touched the space since the shell was complete.

Seems that way. Which is surprising. IMO, a fitness center seems like a relatively low-cost, low-maintenance, business model. I mean, I've seen pretty large fitness centers in pretty obscure places. With the big DT workforce and respectable DT residential, a fitness center would not be risky. Less risky than a grocery store.LenexatoKCMO wrote: Is it safe to assume that the health club is dead in the water at the moment? Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
I think there is enough downtown fitness centers that they need a big name or something different to really get market share. Almost every building has some sort of fitness and there are 5-6 others listed in the newest downtown directory.

These are the unique things downtown needs, especially cool that this sounds like a public rooftop concept. The project is located within The Kansas City Power & Light District and will provide a pool, sand volleyball court, sunbathing deck with lounge seating, cabana seating and two bars. The facilities will have shower wash off located adjacent to the pool area, changing rooms, lockers and a toilet facility.
A fitness center isn't very unique and doesn't seem necessary as many housing projects include one and then there is the YMCA in addition to others that already exist.
Something like a rooftop bocce court would be cool though.

but a unique, california-style fitness center unlike anything in the metro(midwest?) would be awesome. leave it empty until they get an anchor fitness center to complement other anchor additions like cosentino's + amc mainstreet.

Equinox would be a good high end health club fit. Love the cleanliness and endless supply of fluffy white towels.

It's real! The Jones Ultra Pool. A 22,000 sq ft. rooftop pool, bar, hipster concept operated by Cordish and owned by Mosaic located above Cosentinos. Members get priority while general population can reserve time on weekends. Opens early June. Don't know what the fees are but this should be interesting.

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
You should post that in the 12th and main thread since its 'official'.
Hey I like the concept. Woodside has been doing the same thing for years.

cool name. seriously. they've been hoisting lumber up there by crane all week. you can go to the top floor and peer out there to see progress (or take pics), but the doors are probably still locked.geeman68 wrote: It's real!
