I mean, c'mon, the roof practically pays for itself, right?

I got a chuckle reading the list of reasons why the issue was withdrawn:

■ Legislators did not want to insult voters by putting on the ballot the same measure defeated on April 4.

■ Legislators wanted the Chiefs and the Royals to increase their contribution to at least a third of the cost.

Looks like they're watching out for us now!

■ Legislators up for re-election did not want to be on the same ballot as the roof.

■ The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and other business leaders now are opposed to a use tax for the rolling roof.

Looks like they're watching out for themselves now...

■ Legislators were worried about the Royals’ on-the-field woes costing votes — a November election gives time for the Royals season to become a memory and the Chiefs to win games.

Whatever.
