question: #1 passes, #2 doesn't....what does Lamar do?
I have to think Lamar would do something extra to get a Super Bowl here......any guess on if he would try even harder to get some sort of roof?
Re: question: #1 passes, #2 doesn't....what does Lamar do?
Maybe he should pay for it himself if he wants it so bad?

Do you think it really matters to him that much? Perhaps he could convince a new commissioner to finally host the thing outdoors. Or maybe he finds a way to privately finance the roof, arranging with the county to keep revenues from non-sports events hosted at Arrowhead. In the back of my mind the roof was just a way to make the renovation project seem like a deal for taxpayers.

I think he wants a super bowl "in his honor". Not so much for KC, but for him.....I think he comes up with something to get it done.....and L&L might be right, pay more of it with his cash.....

No, no, no...that won't happen. At least, not yet. If Q2 fails, Lamar will try to find another way of getting what he wants WITHOUT him having to pay for it. Only after all options have failed, will he then MIGHT consider paying for it himself. But, one way or another, he'll get it.KCPowercat wrote: I think he wants a super bowl "in his honor". They'll have 9 years to think about it. Maybe more like 4 or 5 if they name the venue 4-5 years in advance.

But why would he care if the Super Bowl is in Kansas City when the Chiefs won't even play there anymore????

If Question 1 passes (as it looks like it's going to), the Chiefs will be in KC for the 25 years...regardless if Question 2 passes or fails.KCMax wrote: But why would he care if the Super Bowl is in Kansas City when the Chiefs won't even play there anymore????

Is there anything preventing the Jackson County Legislature from bypassing the voters and instituting a tax on their own to pay for the roof? That's what legislators in Milwaukee, Cincinnati, and a couple of other cities did when their voters rejected stadium initatives.

Hmm...I'm not sure, but probably not. That's what the state of Missouri did for the dome in St. Louis. The tax was added without a vote. But, I think the legislature would have a hard time "passing" something that has already been voted against.KCMax wrote: Is there anything preventing the Jackson County Legislature from bypassing the voters and instituting a tax on their own to pay for the roof? nope. or the missouri legislature. they can send funding the way of the chiefs and royals to get the roof done.KCMax wrote: Is there anything preventing the Jackson County Legislature from bypassing the voters and instituting a tax on their own to pay for the roof? That's what I thought. So, I am sure Lamar will still get his roof WITHOUT him having to pay for it...kcdcchef wrote: nope. or the missouri legislature. they can send funding the way of the chiefs and royals to get the roof done.

I think Lamar will push for a roof of some kind. Look for the next vote to be in November.
Re: question: #1 passes, #2 doesn't....what does Lamar do?
I think another vote for the roof will go worse than this one. People will be fed up with it, and vote NO just because they are tired of hearing about it.

At least it gives them time to work out some details. I'm convinced they had no idea how this thing would work or how much it would really cost.

Agreed....maybe a temp. roof for one time use? I would think that would be lesser costKCMax wrote: At least it gives them time to work out some details. I'm convinced they had no idea how this thing would work or how much it would really cost.
Re: question: #1 passes, #2 doesn't....what does Lamar do?
I just don't see it changing with another vote. People are tired of hearing about this issue. Many people I talked to thought the roof was a terrible idea, even if they were for the renovations.
Maybe they really needed the Second Coming ?!?

Actually, the 25 years thing is probably bogus. The stadiums will need another major renovation before then, to stay "state of the art," lest the county risk defaulting again. I give it 10-15 years.AllThingsKC wrote: If Question 1 passes (as it looks like it's going to), the Chiefs will be in KC for the 25 years...regardless if Question 2 passes or fails.

That would never happen! Oh, wait. It did this time.mean wrote: Actually, the 25 years thing is probably bogus. The stadiums will need another major renovation before then, to stay "state of the art," lest the county risk defaulting again. I give it 10-15 years.
