Are you kidding me? I get just the opposite. Not one person I know is voting YES. Even my friends who don't live in Jackson County say thet would vote NO. So, I don't see this passing...

the thing is the people that turn out in mass for votes like this, are not vocal, at all. you have no idea how many of the rural type will turn out.

Well, Chef (and everyone else, for that matter), just out of curiosity, what areas of Jackson County do you see this passing/failing?

Downtown area.... will probably vote NO to try to get a DT ballpark ???
Midtown... will probably vote no since it's midtown.
Plaza... the Plaza area might vote yes, just 'cause it's the Plaza.
South KC... who knows?
Grandview... will probably vote yes, just because I see a lot of signs down there.
Indep., Raytown, and Lee's Summit will probably vote yes since they are so close to the stadiums.

Thoughts, anyone?

I would tend to agree with that synopsis but voter turnout is traditionally higher in the burbs than in the inner city so that will favor the Yes vote. My parents in south KC are definate Yes votes.

dt by far and away, the fewest voters, mixed at best
crown center / mid town mixed at best
south kc more yes votes
independence more yes
lees summit / eastern jack more yes

but, it is about voter turnout, if those subarbanites turn out in mass numbers, this thing passes more then likely.

i think the choices on this poll are indicitive of how it will turn out. no way it gets more then 55% yes, no way it gets more then 55% no.

I live in raytown and drive through midtown every day. Way fewer Yes signs in Raytown and Lees Summit then in midtown.

My n-laws are rural and they are all voting no and don't know anybody who will vote yes.

I hope this thing falls flat.

Based on the number of absentee ballots already cast, Jackson County is expect a record turn out for any Non-Presidental election. So, who do you think will turn out more? The city proper or the subarbanites?

i hear both, i hear subarnabintes like my family, say they are voting yes. i hear some who are saying hell no. it is real hard to call this.

only thing i heard redundantly from the non downtown people i know, was, they are for the tsc, not a dt stadium.

On KMBZ this morning Dave Helling was saying he could see this either pass narrowly, or possibly go down by a 10-12 point margin. I haven't heard anyone else discuss it losing by that much, we all seem to think it will either barely pass or barely be defeated. It all depends on turnout.

I somewhat agree with that.

I wonder how things would shift if JoCo is put in to the mix. I work in OP, and in talking with folks there, I was surprised to hear many of them say that a DT park would be great. Granted, "Arrowhead at Village West" were the next words out of their mouths. But I was still surprised to hear as many---um, say 4 out of the 5 I talked to--say this. The 5th one said "Where would everybody park?".

My sample size consisted of those eating lunch in the break room last Monday. It's a little small. But...could JoCo be DT's friend?

I was at a JoCo BBQ last night and everyone I talked to would support a Bi-State tax for a downtown stadium. Everyone there was under 30 though. They were all against the renovating the TSC. I'm pretty sure my dad and everyone in his generation would adamantly vote against a bi-state proposal, particularly one for a downtown stadium. And older people vote more than younger people, so I don't imagine JoCo will be a willing partner anytime soon.

i know people from joco (professors, students) at umkc that all seem to want light rail and a strong downtown. i also have noticed that a lot of joco people are transplants from somewhere else.

likewise, talking to a few lee's summit natives lately, many say stuff like 'downtown is the ghetto' and 'oh, we will see if downtown makes it,' etc...

i think there is some sort of shift going on.
