Yeah, most people I talk to are very against the renovation plan, but either aren't registered to vote or don't live in Jackson County.  It is sad, because they are the ones that will have to deal with the consequences if this passes.

That said, should this pass, many will just move on to bigger and better places.  Why fight so hard for something, when you can easily go somewhere else where the environment you desire is already there.

Yeah I had planned on waiting to visit until after they had finished the expansion but civic duty intervened.  Looks nice inside so far though.

Its not just Jackson County. Israel just had their lowest turnout ever for a Presidential election. Only 63% of eligible voters turned out! :shock:

I think like 45%. For midterm elections its more like 25%.

And I was being sarcastic in case that wasn't evident.

In Australia, voting is mandatory.
A nifty article on Slate:  http://www.slate.com/id/2108832/ wrote:Voter turnout is already 95 percent of registered voters. The reason is simple: It's the law. Those who fail to vote risk a fine and, in rare cases, imprisonment. Advocates of mandatory voting argue it's a sensible way to ensure that elections reflect the will of all of the people. Only 67 percent of American registered voters, by contrast, bothered to show up on Election Day in 2000.
It says 67% of registered voters, not citizens eligible to vote.  Yikes.

2004 - 55.3
2000 - 51.3
1996 - 49.1
1992 - 55.1
1988 - 50.1

Fox news at noon is reporting heavy turnout in Independence and Lee Summit.

those last 2 elections broke my heart, because all these media outlets were doing rock the vote type shit to get everyone out voting, and still only 55%. sad.

if it is heavy turn out in eastern jack, that may give me the result i want.

61st and Ward Parkway larger than expected crowds according to the old lady with lipstick on her teeth who hands out the ballots.

I'm expecting this to win.

I was the only one at the 8th & Walnut polling station today around 1:30.  :(
I have a bad feeling that the scare tactics are going to have paid off on this.

Based on hundreds of people I have talked to, and where they live in the county, I made up this made of where I think most of the NO votes are and the YES votes are.  There is no scientific about this map, it is just my own opinion.  [glow=red,2,300]Feel free to change it where you see fit!!!! [/glow]  I would like feedback on this.

RED = VOTING NO
WHITE = NOT SURE/TOO CLOSE TO CALL
BLUE = VOTING YES

As you can see, I can't tell very much in South KC, parts of Grandview/Indep./Lee's Summit, and all of Greenwood is too close to call.

What do you all think?

Strange looking map.  Generally, one pattern that emerges is Exurbia: NO  Suburbia: YES  City: TOO CLOSE TO CALL

LOL...I will.  This is my only day off for the week, and I am spending it doing much research.  I believe in being an informed voter....although I've never been a last-minute voter, so this will be exciting.
