We go to a lot of Royals games, but we also hit other MLB parks too (couple per year).

showme....this isn't STL....if you miss Busch so much I'm sure there is a way to get back there.

You can also get to Kauffman on the royals express for $5 plus $5 off your ticket, so FREE.

I probably go about twice a year.    I'd like to go lots more than that and I don't care if they're winning or losing.  (Most of the time I don't even havee any idea who the guys are.)  But getting to the stadium is a hassle and inconvenient.  Parking costs too much unless I get a few people to go and split the cost, but the Royals Express has proven to be unreliable.

Whenever I do get to the game there's always some chump sitting in my seat and then I get seated next to some family that gets up and squeezes by me to go to concessions/restrooms twice an inning.

Honestly, i would go to more Royals games if it was closer... but living in Shawnee, it's all the way on the other side of the Metro.

It would be way more accessible to me if it was located DOWNTOWN

Everything is "all the way on the other side of the Metro" if you live in Shawnee.  Ten more minutes east? OK, whatever you say.

asslicking? that ain't no asslicking by itself. they're also giving them a reach-around too. i hate to say it, but the star has about as much credibility as the pitch these days. with all the stories they have been running for the yes vote, you'd think that glass and/or hunt own the paper or that glorioso was the publisher. what is cute though is that they try to act like they're not biased with they're so-called "we're reporting both sides" jive.

check today's paper. a nice front page story on everything you wanted to know about a rolling roof and how great it would be to spend 200 million on a piece of fiberglass that's something like 10-15 acres in area and be the first city in the world to have such a roof. complete with pics/renderings. ha!

i was also wondering if the vote on the roof was the only thing on the ballot, so i'm gonna go check it out. i'm back. i went to jackson county's site and k.c.'s and gladstone's. i guess there isn't any election. nevermind, but i did find this nugget. woo hoo!

It would be ten minuts closer, are you disputing this fact?  Downtown would be closer for everyone in the metro, except East Jack.

It soulds like transportation and location are two big factors why people don't attend games.

i generally make it to 5-6 games a year at kauffman, the most recently was 11 in 2003, and that was rare, last year was either 6 or 7, i cannot remember. either way, i tie it into my travel plans to try to hit a few games.

why so many people bitch about how much parking is, or ticket prices, is dumb as shit, it cost us $20 to park in toronto for the last game of 2005, that was HIGH. and that was american, not canadian.

with regards to the tailgating i attempted to organize, i had a bunch of pm's from people with no idea how to get tickets, and had even more pm's from people saying, well, i will go if you promise this person will not be there, or if so and so is not allowed. i was like, give me a break people, this is a forum, you are going to dislike or hate someone in person you have never met before based on forum opinions??

lastly, when living in kc, most people would tell me they did not want to go to royals games because the team was not winning, mind you, this was in 1994, 9 years removed from the series, and 5 years removed from a 92 win season. the team was not winning the american league west like always anymore, so, they did not want to go to games. sad.

I would have no problem paying to park if I thought I was getting something of value:  a spot where parking is scarce.  However, to charge $9 for a spot in the largest parking lot in the entire metro area makes me want to vomit.  Plus, I'd rather not have to drive in the first place.  I'd much prefer to walk or take a bus.  Walking to the K isn't an option, and the bus just is not reliable.

Yeah, parking at the K should be free. Pay for maintenance by taxing everybody, if they go to games or not. The American way, at least when it come to sports.  :(

Not at all.  I wholly support fee based parking.  I despise the fact that the only reliable way I can partake in a Royals game is by using that parking.  I have no other options (save the Royals Express, which has not proven itself to be reliable to me).

You can park at the Clarion, Dury Inn, or Holiday Inn, for free and walk over. (sorry if I violated the rule about not mentioning the other two hotels and therefor breaking the impression that the Old Adams Mark and the Taco Bell are the only two buildings out there).

Don't forget Denny's!!

And crossing the street there is a very pleasant walk, as is walking down the hill and then through the entire parking lot.

A ballpark integrated with its surroundings offering multiple transportation options to and from the stadium would be a major improvement, and would undoubtedly attract some fans who are unhappy with the current setup.

yeah, you broke lockandloads rule, that there is only a taco bell and a clarion.

you can legally patronize taco bell, umb, dennys, or any of them, tape the receipt in your window, park there, and walk over. lots of people do.

so only if the parking spot is valuable to you is it ok to pay for parking? intresting..................and i am sure village west has more parking spaces.

Doubtful - The parking for the speedway is unimproved fields.  The parking for the Mall and the big stores can't be but a small fraction of TSC.

So I've have to spend $$ at Taco Bell instead of paying the Royals for parking?  You are not making the situation look any better.  Parking is valuable when I choose to drive when I do not have to, not when I am forced to drive when I do not want to.

The parking is a cash cow. They have a situation where people basically have no choice but to park, so they charge out the ass for it. It's like going to Six Flags. The whole place is deliberately laid out so it's pretty much unreasonable to come without a car, so you're driving, and they get you for that too.
