Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Tickets are cheap, and good seats are almost always available. Sure, they're no good, but it's still pro baseball, and it's still a blast to go.
In a normal year, I make it to perhaps four games. That isn't because that's all I have time for. I have my reasons, but I want to wait until others say why they don't often go, or why they don't go as often as they'd like.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
I go to maybe 3 - 5 games a year, or how ever many I can with what little I have.
I'm the kind of fan that:
• On a 162-degree day,
• I'll be sitting in the 162nd row
• Watching the Royals lose 162-0
• and become 0-162,
• and I would still have a good time at the ol' ballpark... which needs renovations for more than $162 Million.
And I would be happy with that....of course I might be happier if there was something to watch besides the game....like a rolling roof. (Just Kidding)

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
The Royals suck, and both transportation options to the K suck. $9 parking is absurd, and the Royals Express is a crap shoot. I went to maybe three games last year, seven or eight in 2004, and about 20 in 2003.
It doesn't feel very major league when you are in a 40k seat ballpark that has 7-10k fans watching a game.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Honestly? It's because I can't find more people wanting to go to games.
I went to about 8 games last year and about the same number the year before at the K, when I lived in St Louis. It's a great place to watch a game. I enjoy warm days (with some shade, if I can get it), sprawled out in the empty seats, nursing a beer. At some point in the 5th inning, I loose interest in the game and just enjoy looking at the blue sky, the fountains, the grass... That's what I like about Royals games over Chiefs games--you're there to watch, not participate (yelling is fun at Arrowhead, but it's a lot of work after awhile). Fireworks on Friday nights are the best. I never understand why people leave before they start.

Gotta get a jump on that traffic! So.... you can get home? Right.
I don't go because it's hard to get there. I have to drive and pay for parking, or I have to pay $5 for a bus that I have, in the past, had about a 50% chance of catching.
In either case, it's a hassle to get to Royals games, and I would go a lot more, if I didn't have that hassle. If there was a way for me to get there without having to pay money and have to plan it. I think the Royals are in the minority in this- that going to a game must be planned beforehand, and going to a game involves a lot more than buying tickets.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Same problem as Kard. I want to go to 20-30 games a year, but no one else wants to go. I was going to buy a mini-season ticket package but figured no one would want to go with. I've gone to games by myself before, but its just not as fun. Let's have kcskyscraper night at the K! We can even get our name on the scoreboard!
Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Nice. It's funny to see you say this, when all my friends in Lee's Summit say they want to keep the K because it's so easy for them to get to, and it's "uniqueness" of having highways and a sea of parking all around it. They love having the "convenience" of being able to drive 10 minutes to pay 9 dollars for parking so they can sit in the giant parking expanse and tailgate the whole game without ever going into the stadium to watch the game. It's funny when they try arguing how bad they want to keep the K for the above reasons, and yet they only go to about 3 games a summer, and only watch probably 6 innings total out of those 3 games.bahua wrote: Gotta get a jump on that traffic! Now on topic: I go to 15-20 games a year. I love the atmosphere at the K. Of course i don't pay for any of it. My neighbor has season tickets and he gives me the first crack at them if I want them. It even includes parking pass. All I have to pay for is concessions which alone can take a good chuck out of your pocket.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
I don't go nearly as often as I'd like, due solely to my work schedule. I hit about 10 games a season.
But 99.9% of the other games I catch on the radio or TV. Mostly radio.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
i used to go about 10-15 games a year. used to drive to st.louis at least once a year to see the cards play. used to like baseball. won't bore you with my rant against the game, but i have only been to the K maybe 3 times since glass bought the team. it got old watching the crap that is called the royals lose and lose and lose and lose some more. plus it's almost impossible to find someone to go with.
it's not much fun watching a team when you can't even tell what the lineup is without a scorecard.

No time, and I hate losing... I don't like losing teams either. I will root for them at a distance, but I hate watching our teams lose.
Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
St. Louis and the new Busch stadium is a 3.5 hour drive down I-70. The question should be why do you go to Royal's game to begin with. Why don't you go to more Royals games?

I'll probably see 30 games this year at the K....I have the 20 game plan and have had it since 02 or 03 (can't remember).....and will pick up some games when it's a good matchup.
I love baseball...couldn't care less that I have to drive to get there....nothing beats sitting at the stadium watching a game.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
i don't go because the experience is LAME.
Nothing to do before OR after the game.
Once you're inside the stadium, people-watching is the only thing left to do while the team sucks.
Build the stadium downtown and make baseball an ENTERTAINMENT EVENT.

Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
And I just don't really like baseball. However, I've lived on earth for 20 years and for 20 years, I have not seen a winning product (except for the decent 2003 team). Maybe this is why I don't care for baseball. But I would love to see the Royals (and the Chiefs too) win since KC is home
Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Driving is bad enough, the fact that they wat $9 to park the damn car is what pushes me over the edge. A million parking spots and they want $9.KCPowercat wrote: couldn't care less that I have to drive to get there....nothing beats sitting at the stadium watching a game.
I agree baseball is great, but it is nice if your team wins more than once a week.
Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
Hmmm. A roundtrip fare on Metrolink from North Hanley to the new Busch is $3.50 for an adult.Driving is bad enough, the fact that they wat $9 to park the damn car is what pushes me over the edge. A million parking spots and they want $9.
Our local rag(The Star)needs to do an analysis on how much taxpayers are paying per win.I agree baseball is great, but it is nice if your team wins more than once a week.

Yes, that would go really well with their Glass/Hunt asslicking.ShowME wrote: Our local rag(The Star)needs to do an analysis on how much taxpayers are paying per win.
Re: Why don't you go to more Royals games?
I would go to every game if I could afford it (not the tickets, the divorce).
