So you're admitting that renovating the K is a poor investment for Jackson County taxpayers.

That is why I said "or discontinue operations."  The value of the franchise has increased over 100% since Glass purchased the team.  I think there would be plenty of interested suitors.  If not, the team has no business being in business.

all mlb teams have doubled in values in the last 15 years, the tv contract got fat, attendance is at an all time high, so are ratings. all teams did this. but, how many suitors are there going to be for a small market team that goes from losing 10m, to breaking even, to making 2m? not a windfall if you are in that stratosphere of wealth.

to say the team has no business being in business, that would also then include pittsburgh, detroit, florida, tampa, minnesotta, and cleveland. mlb is working to fix the ecenomics, but, it is a slow process.

no. i am admitting that if you are mega rich investing a hundred to two hundred million dollars into an enterprise that over the last 10 years has made less then a 1m profit in those 10 years, is bad business. when the royals went up for sale, much like the pirates, and tigers, finding intrested parties was not easy. and then, finding qualified buyers, is even harder.

I'd be happy to invest in an entity the generates a small loss each year, while the investment doubles in value over a short period of time.  Sounds like an internet stock :)

If all these bells and whistles are going to provide new revenue like the Royals say they will, then you will be able to find investors willing to invest in it.

I mean hell, baseball owners get a deduction from the revenue sharing contributions (which yes, even the Royals pay into) for any money they pay into stadium improvement. It would be a pretty solid investment for an investor -- unless you think these renovations are a waste of money.

Man,you guys are crazy if you think that you are going to run that team any better then Mr. Glass. That is crazy talk.

For one, don't nobody want the shit. Did you see how hard it was for Major League Baseball to find an owner for the Expos? Or how bout that back door ass swap they did to get an owner for the Florida Marlins. If you wanna see some real next level shit, look out in the desert, there is this group headed by former players running the Diamondbacks and they had to sell off all the talent the team had because they deferred way too many salaries to hold together the 2001 club so they could win a title. Sure they won it but they went 45 million dollars in debt to do it. There is not a list of suitors to buy this team sorry. There never has been. Mr. Kauffman ran it at a loss and you want Mr. Glass to do the same and it will not happen. Do not hate on Mr. Glass because the value of the franchise doubled on his watch that happened on all clubs.

Now the renovations are renovations quit hatin' saying that it is expansion or this or that. The areas they are doing stuff to are stadium property now so therefore to take it from concrete and chain link fences to seats hall of fames and shit like that is renovation. Have you seen the hall of fames other stadiums have like in Detroit? They have an area done up like old Tiger Stadium on the lower concourse. All the Royals are doing is what all other teams have done~~restaurants, hall of fames, family areas stuff like that.

Wow!

After reading the last couple of pages here I'm convinced that they Royals are a horrible investment for anyone.

You guys are right...I mean who in their right mind would be stupid enough to spend even one thin dime on these bums?

I'm glad we're figuring this out now before something ridiculous happens, like the taxpayers drop a couple hundred million on a loser like this...
