Mark Belanger, Garry Maddox, Dwight  Evans, Paul Blair, George Scott, Jim Kaat and Don Mattingly all have as many or more Gold Gloves. None of them will be in Cooperstown either.

Sweeney won't play til he's 40, and he will continue his pace. Players tend to decline as they age, particularly players with back problems.

I may very well "boo" Mike Sweeney this year as well.

After all, he did say publicly that he was rooting for Team Canada instead of his homeland to emerge as the winner when they played each other.

People in higher profile positions say dumb stuff all the time.  Add Sweeney (unfortunately) to that list.

This is day two.  Against one of the worse teams in the league.  With our #2 starter out there.  Not a positive, I don't care what team it is.

only positive i have seen today is berroa. rest of the team looks awful, i agree.

plus, 2 pitchers in there that should not be in there. stemle, looked like hell all spring, and made the team over andrade  or whatever the guys name was, the guy they got with a week to go that pitched 4 scoreless outings winning 2 of them. stemle had a spring era over 5. mays, looked like shit all spring, and bell said it was because like so many other pitchers, he was working on some stuff. i would have hoped that he was done working on stuff as of april 1st. the royals should have put wood in the rotation over mays, or even gobble, both had much better spring trainings.
