all over espn, and espn news right now. nothing anywhere else, yet.
why do kc teams have no idea how to fire a coach??
muser deserved to go, but did not deserve to get told by frank boal. gunther shoulda never been hired, he did not deserve to find out online he'd been fired. we all know buddy bell didn't "retire", and everyone and their mother knew pioli would not keep herm. this is the most fucked up way to do business that we do in kc with our coaches/managers.
How do you know Herm wasn't told before this was "leaked"?
Shannahan? Too weird feeling...I've hated that guy for so long, how can I now suddenly be excited for him?
The next guy will be the beneficiary of all the cap space the chiefs have ($45 million), the draft position (3rd pick in each round) and young players the chiefs have brought in. Hope the next guy doesn't blow it.
Personnally I am opposed to Shanny. His MO the past 10 years in Denver is to bring in older players to try to eke out a few extra wins each year. That approach has steadily depleted Denver's roster to the point where they now stuggle to even make the playoffs.
May have to take that back. Everyone is changing their tunes about it. ESPN first said "Chiefs are close to deal with Shanahan". Now they are saying, "Chiefs targeting Shanahan as HC"

so you were basing your "expect Shannahan to be announced Monday" based on a couple internet media reports...yeah, probably a little premature...but I still wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

i would like shanahan, but i would prefer a young up and comer.
At first I thought Shanahan would be a good hire for the Chiefs but he is someone like Vermeil - he needs an experienced team. I do not think he would be a good fit as a coach for a team under-development.
I still think the coaching announcement will come after the Super Bowl.
I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.
on top of which, announcing a candidate today would have been a little off. remember the rooney rule, right? gotta interview one minority candidate, and doing a backroom deal with shanahan would have meant there were no interviews with minorities probably, big trouble in little kc for clarkie.
MU FINISHED THE YEAR RANKED HIGHER IN HOOPS AND FOOTBALL THAN THE KAY U JAYDORKS. UP YOURS KAY U JAYDORK FANS!!!!

Jim Harbrough Yes- then both brothers would be Head Coaches in the NFL
Dennis Green Maybe- Knows the West Coast Offense
Jim Haslett Yes- Coached MO other Team this year
Any former Coach working for the NFL Network or ESPN Maybe
Jim Fassel Maybe
Marty probley no
Other Coaches/so on
Chan Gailey Yes already on the Staff
Todd Haley Maybe
Jason Garrett Maybe Up and Coming
Marshall Faulk Yes wanted to Coach the Rams
Carl Peterson probley not
Any former Chiefs Player that's Retired that wants to be a Head Coach maybe
Word is minority candidates are turning down Chiefs offers for interviews because everyone believes the Chiefs are just going to offer the job to Arizona offensive coordinator Todd Haley.
Also, ESPN has on their crawl that the Chiefs are interested in Pats QB Matt Cassell.
Who knows though, I don't really trust any rumors with this team anymore. Pioli is awfully tight-lipped.
"I want to make sure people know I have not asked for a trade," Gonzalez said Wednesday morning before the AFC's Pro Bowl practice. "I haven't even talked to (new Chiefs general manager Scott) Pioli yet."
Either Tony is lying, or Scot Pioli seriously dropped the ball on that one.
