A new minor league men's basketball team has their inaugural game tonight at Municpal. Team was supposed to be called the Buzz and had a bumblebee mascot that infringed on the Georgia Tech mascot/logo, and was changed to the Tornados after GA Tech complained to the league office. Grammarphiles should love the misspelling of tornadoes and what appears to be an apostrophe in the logo (tornado's).

Kansas City Tornados
Re: Kansas City Tornados
*adjusts glasses* um, actually
The apostrophe is pretty cringe inducing though. I also don't like the name, reinforces the perception that we get lots of tornadoes.

I don't understand how this kind of stuff can make money or survive beyond a year. There has been very little marketing done. The prices for tickets don't seem that bad but why do I want to watch 3rd/4th rate players when I can watch the NBA and NCAA on TV. It seems like these Semi-Pro Basketball leagues come and go all the time.
