No. Black is a somewhat neutral color like gray or silver. If KU wore gold, that would be like Mizzou wearing blue.AllThingsKC wrote:KU is getting new helmets!
Wouldn't a black KU helmet be like Mizzou having a blue helmet?
Re: 2013 - 2014 College Football Season
The helmets are ok, but I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of uniforms they'll be wearing this year. The past few years, they've had some really shitty unis. I still hate the trajan font on the football jerseys, and the white pants gotta go. Hey, if you're gonna trot a sorry team out onto the field, at least make sure they look top notch!

Re: 2013 - 2014 College Football Season
I still haven't met anyone that likes the Trajan font on the KU logo. The helmets look snappy to me, but the unis could make or break the look overall. The powder blue helmet on the wrong jersey could look really sad. The red would need to be really prevalent to avoid the Carolina ripoff comparisons.kcmetro wrote:The helmets are ok, but I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of uniforms they'll be wearing this year. Also, KU has worn yellow jerseys before in basketball, but I'm not sure about football. Black seems to be a color that almost any team can exploit, just like white and grey. Judging by the middle helmet, it appears they still have not relented on using a darker blue for football. Ever since KU has had an "official blue," they haven't gone back to the dark blue jerseys that were pretty nice:

The black helmets would look pretty nice if it didn't have that ugly bird on there...AllThingsKC wrote:KU is getting new helmets!

Bill Snyder named one of the top coaches in college football.
Charlie Weis, one of the worst.

The important thing is just to be recognized.

Re: 2013 - 2014 College Football Season
I completely understand the knocks on Charlie Weis, but one of the five worst coaches in football? Florida was 8-5 and declining the season before he joined as coordinator and went 7-6. Also not mentioned was a pro stint in which Matt Cassel went 10-6 (granted pro is different). Anyone who realizes how terrible a coach Turner Gil is would also realize that KU had no chance at a decent record last year with the Big 12 schedule shift.KCMax wrote:Bill Snyder named one of the top coaches in college football.

The real damning thing about Charlie Weis is what he was able to accomplish with all of the resources available at Notre Dame. There were a few pretty big faceplants there. There is no way, though, you could fairly judge any coach on taking over the KU position last year. There were a lot of coaches who were more disappointing last year. It is sad to say, and the record does not show it, but the team was much improved last year.

I think the coaches are only judged by their tenures as head coach. All of these guys were good coordinators - that's how they got head coaching jobs.

Mizzou ranked dead last in SEC recruiting based on a composite formula of rankings.

They were 13th last year.

A losing season will no doubt hurt recruiting. Hopefully, they won't have to compete against the #1 SOS this year.

Pre-season polls are completely meaningless, but the Big 12 is shut out of preseason top 10 for first time.

Re: 2013 - 2014 College Football Season
KSU fans are optimistic for another solid season. KU is hoping to win a conference game for the first time in some time. Don't hear much about Mizzou anymore.
Should be a fun ride in 2013.

Unfortunately, the fun ride started with a wreck backing out of the driveway. Still, while I am not a KSU fan, I hope the program overcomes the setback - the B12 needs quality programs.KC-wildcat wrote:KSU fans are optimistic for another solid season. Guess there is a new candidate if the Big 12 expands.
