Besides tennis and skiing, soccer is the only women's sport that I really enjoy watching. World Cup is always interesting as the US team (unlike the men) is usually competitive. I have to wonder where they will play and what kind of crowds they will come out to support. Another venue for Village West?

I think this is great. I really wonder where they'll play? If the TIF financing for field in Swope doesn't get snuffed out they could build something smallish there. Or would there be enough demand to just go ahead and play at Livestrong. It may not sellout...but decent attendance may warrant it. Plus they could make packages with Sporting Season Tix holders.

I'm really hoping we get some kind of lacrosse team in the future. Prefer outdoor, but would take either.
I know they held some big camps at Livestrong this past summer.

I would think they'd play at UMKC or Rockhurst way before building something.

Home games to played at SM North.
At least 11 of those 12 matches will be played at SM North District Stadium, which holds 6,150, making it the third-largest capacity stadium in the eight-team league, behind Portland and Western New York.
In anticipation of a larger crowd for the season opener on April 13, Budzinski said the team is still mulling its options for the site of its inaugural game. More than 1,000 season tickets have already been sold, Budzinski said.
FC Kansas City also engaged in discussions with Sporting Park and UMKC. The team ultimately signed a one-year lease with SM North District Stadium. It will pay about $3,000 per game to play there, Budzinski said.

So apparently the league had a draft, and the team has players from the NWSL dispersal draft.

FC KC Roster:

Megan Rapinoe and Hope Solo play for Seattle. Abby Wamback plays for Western NY. Alex Morgan plays for Portland.

Julie Foudy says KC has the 2nd best team

How were the USWNT players assigned? Doesn't seem like a concidence that Rapinoe, Solo, and Morgan all ended up in the PacNW.

So, does the KC women's soccer team, located in a suburban High School football stadium, now have the most centralized location of our professional sports teams?

Ha! There is an indoor football team playing at Kemper next year I think.

So Portland is drawing insane crowds of 13-17,000 fans per game, but FC Kansas City is second in the league with about 4,500 fans per game which seems pretty good to me. Much of the rest of the league is really struggling in attendance at around 1,500 - 2,500 fans per game.

I was reading through Heinman's tweets (SKC CEO) and he wrote this next to a pic of the new swope fields
New stadium field going in at swope. Beautiful....what say u #fckc ?
That sounds like an invite for them to begin playing there next year, no?

That's a pretty huge deal for UMKC to have capacity expanding from 800 to 3,2000...on someone else's dime. But I'm puzzled why FCKC would pay for an expansion to 3,200 when the Shawnee Mission North location averaged around 4,500 fans per match. Dispute with the school district?

They mentioned they liked having a soccer-specific stadium, and being in the center of the city.

They were talking about that on ESPN FC last night. Got a reverse regionalism when they said that Sporting Park was in Missouri.

What's happened to soccer in St. Louis? For years it was a hotbed and fueled SLU's 10 national championships. Kansas City seems to have completely eclipsed it.
