They got Kendall Fuller in the Smith trade so trading Peters is kind of a wash but if they had kept Peters it would have been a nice secondary. I really didn't think his character issues were a problem. The thing he did vs the Jets was overblown.

Clark Hunt seems like kind of a simple guy who might be susceptible to Trump and Jerry Jones anthem dictates.

I agree. It seems odd to keep Bob Sullivan and give up on Peters. I hope we're at least getting a decent haul of draft picks for giving up a Pro Bowl caliber corner with three years left before free agency.

Nobody knows yet. Peter King was speculating that at best it would be a second round pick. He made it sound like not hearing about the compensation this far after a trade was unusual and that the Rams may have been asked not to divulge anything yet. The suspicion is that the Chiefs are trying to separate the backlash over trading Peters from the backlash that they may have gotten very little in return.

But, LA doesn’t have a second round pick this year. I heard a report that it was multiple picks and with several teams said to be interested (Raiders, 49rs,etc) I cant imagine a 1st not being included. Could be a 1st in a future year though. I’d actually prefer it be the Rams 1st next year vs. their #23 pick this year. Teams can fall quickly and might get a higher pick.

Maybe it's next year's second round? I didn't know that the Raiders were a possible destination. I'd read in the Star that it was only the Rams and Niners.

Ian Rapoport is reporting that it's a 2018 4th rounder and 2019 2nd rounder. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Chiefs threw in a 2018 6th rounder in addition to Peters. We're really just talking about degrees of awfulness here.

I also have heard rumors that they will try to trade or cut Justin Houston this year or next.

Yep. All sorts of angry white men are popping out of the woodwork talking smack on him being a detriment to the team, but based on the only metrics I have actual knowledge of (money and on-field play), he was one of the two or three best players on the team. If you can only get those paltry picks for a player of his caliber, the option isn't to get what you can, it is to find a way to be successful with him (or wait until you can actually bargain with a team that really needs him so you have leverage). Hate to bring race into it, but I don't see us trying to ship Travis Kelce away for being uppity.

I hate to presume it had anything to do with him protesting while black or something, but I can't understand how you let a player like him go for so little compensation. This just smells weird.

Mellinger has been pretty good on this, and he can't formulate a strong football-related reason for doing the deal. I'm inclined to agree.

Mahomes: "Go ahead and hype me up, I'll just go ahead and do even better."

I mean, it's just two games, but holy crap what a beast.

Mahomes needs to slow it down so the D can catch their breath.

For Week 2, the Chiefs were:

#1 in offense
#1 in special teams
#32 in defense
KC is the way to be!

Not too dissimilar to Mizzou football. Juggernaut offense* and a crappy secondary.

*haven't really seen a good defense yet.

Now if the Chief's can just keep their key offensive players healthy this year. They don't have to score every possession but they can't have long scoring droughts and win.

Pro Tip: Can watch pretty much any NFL game using Yahoo Sports on Android using FakeGPS app. Set GPS to local market of game you want to watch with FakeGPS then launch Yahoo Sports. If you have Chromecast, can also cast to TV but only if phone supports doing entire screen (Yahoo app itself doesn't support casting).

Might be possible on iOS with iTools but apparently pretty complicated, haven't tried.

Kareem Hunt is released. Probably the right move. Wonder if KC can get anyone before playoff push
