I'm very excited about this. This is exactly what the team needs to do to draw regional appeal. Excellent move on their part.AllThingsKC wrote:Sporting KC games will now be shown in Wichita & Topeka.

Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
Apparently, the goal for the season was to win 7 games.

Yeah, I went to Chicago to watch the game. Good amount of sporting fans, but we left after the last goal. Chicago is too much of an amazing city to be concerned how the game went.AllThingsKC wrote:Apparently, the goal for the season was to win 7 games.

Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
Was there a fair amount of Sporting fans there? You're the 3rd SKC fan I know who went to Chicago to see the game. Maybe Sporting had a good showing.
Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
The commentators quoted around 400. They definitely took up a decent section. I was very impressed ... tough loss, though.AllThingsKC wrote:Was there a fair amount of Sporting fans there? You're the 3rd SKC fan I know who went to Chicago to see the game. Maybe Sporting had a good showing.
Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
Yeah, what Brodees said above, about 400 or so. It looked like we had as many fans as Section 8, but I am sure that I am off.AllThingsKC wrote:Was there a fair amount of Sporting fans there? You're the 3rd SKC fan I know who went to Chicago to see the game. Maybe Sporting had a good showing.

Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
BS red card. Seems like SKC hasn't had the same intensity the last few matches. Reading their own headlines a bit much?

An interesting article on the salaries of Sporting players (it comes after the new of the signing)

I don't understand how salary structures work in the MLS. It seems bizarre that Sapong can be paid only 65k while there are several off the bench players who are making +200k.

Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
Maybe because Sapong was more unproven when SKC signed him? Kinda like how in baseball you make the league minimum your first few years even if you're the best player on the team, until you get your big pay day later on.kboish wrote:An interesting article on the salaries of Sporting players (it comes after the new of the signing)

Went to my first game of the year Sunday and it was a blast. LOUD crowd, great energy, loved the aggressive attacking style and using CJ, Kei and Teal on the front line to start. Amazing header by Kei, and a couple of great stops by Jimmy Nielsen. When they're at the top of their game, this team looks unbeatable.

TIME: Top 10 Dubious Name Changes: Sporting KC
So much fail in one sentence. To keep in vogue, Kansas City's existing Kansas City Wizards, a name that sat well with the denizens of Dorothy's state, renamed the team this year Sporting Kansas City.

I thought most people were over that by now...

Re: 2012 Sporting Kansas City
But what about present participles?Sporting is a phrase that precedes soccer teams in Iberia and Latin America, but in the U.S. that may be a step to far — franchises are nouns, not adjectives!

Not exactly what I had hoped to see in Seattle, but I'll take the one point for a tie.

Seattle had one of the coolest goals I have ever seen in MLS too.AllThingsKC wrote:Not exactly what I had hoped to see in Seattle, but I'll take the one point for a tie.
Surprised Kamara even played after he just got back from a World Cup qualifier halfway across the world.
