Maybe the conference is throwing them a bone since they're not getting full money until 2015-2016.

ESPN: Breaking down the 2012 Big 12 schedule
BEST COINCIDENCE (?): Matching dates for UT, A&M and Mizzou, KU

So, what are you guys doing on Nov. 17? Texas and Texas A&M are both off that weekend. Just a thought, you know. In case you got a wild hair to stop being petty, Longhorns.

Meanwhile, Missouri is about to lock into a game with Central Florida, but Kansas is off on Sept. 29 and the Tigers haven't announced their half of the schedule just yet. UCF lists the Tigers, but everybody has their price. Mizzou has pushed for the rivalry to resume, but here's guessing if KU agreed, the Tigers would oblige to meet that day.

The chances of either of these games happening? Just above .00001%.

If KU agreed to play Mizzou, wouldn't that be a 13-game schedule for Kansas? Or, who would they drop? I thought KU's 12-game schedule was all but finalized.

Its not going to happen for other reasons, but if KU did want to play Mizzou badly enough, I'm sure they could buy their way out of one of the other non-con games.

Strong showing from our new bretheren. Where would MU be on the list? 6th? I haven't seen them on a pre-season top 25, so possibly 7th? How about A&M? I think the top 6 Big 12 teams will all be pre-season top 25.

Obviously, these rankings are pretty pointless until 3 or 4 weeks into the season, but they are things to ponder at night. I think KU will vastly improve this year. What is so sad is that they could vastly improve and still be 10th.

TCU will be an interesting case study this year and next. I'm not sure what they would be ranked if they were not now in the B12, but I'm sure the big conferences are hoping they fall flat on their face. 1 in 100 chance, but if TCU opened the B12 with a loss to KU, they would almost never escape the laughter of big bowl execs.

Fact is that TCU's roster is loaded with 3-4* TX talent and they've got nice facilities. Their talent is every bit as good as schools like KU, KSU, ISU, TTech, Baylor, etc. - maybe even better.

TCU will be fine.

I agree. I'd say TCU is a better program over the last 5 years than all of those schools.

I think a subpar year from them, though (finishing outside the top 20 or 15) would result in a lot of smug remarks about how they can't compete with the big boys. This is the same for Mizzou/A&M, but to a lesser degree. There is no telling how good they will be. They could have been primed for a down year in the Big 12, but everyone who is pro-SEC will have a big "see I told you so" ready for those who say the Big 12 is near that caliber of conference. I think MU is just as likely to shock people by being solid as they are to shock people by faceplanting, but the difference in where they are coming from to where they are going is a lot slimmer than that of TCU, so my impression of TCU could change, I guess.

:-# Shhh. You're not supposed to talk about SEC teams here. That's why the Big 12 has its own thread.

It was a question, not a statement...and I still agree...I'm not interested in MU vs. KU cross conference whining.

Nor am I. But I think multiple threads is some-what ridiculous. Maybe I'm giving us way too much credit, but since just a handful of us actually post in the sports threads, I think we can keep the smack to a minimum. Well, maybe.
