CBE Classic

Post by AJoD »

This event has been discussed in the Sprint Center thread, but I don't think it has its own.

Has anyone bought tickets?

I think this is a pretty cool event, and I'm planning on going for one night anyway.  Excited to get a look at the arena (wow...looking at the Ticketmaster Sprint Center lineup is depressing).

However, it looks like there are no seats available in either tier between the goals.  Really?

Is there another way to get tix besides going through Ticketmaster?  Anyone know when the box office down there (or maybe at the NABC) opens?

Damn service fee pisses me off.

I bought tickets for both nights.  One night I got two seats center court (second level) three rows from the front.  The other night we are sitting three rows up from the floor in one of the corners.  I tried to get lower level seats between the baskets but I could not get ticketmaster.com to get me in that area.  They kept wanting to put me on the floor five rows behind one of the baskets.  I sat in that section for the 2001 Guardians Classic and it was fun, but I wanted to be between the baskets as much as possible this year.

I want the $10 tickets, don't want to pay the $5.25 "convenience charge".  :x

Why is there a convenience charge anyway?

They have convenience charges because it makes it more convenient to buy the tickets.

Well I Can see that. I meen why do they add this charge onto the price of a ticket instead of charging the consumer extra for it.

The games still count as much as any regular season game - it's not exhibition like football.

Yep unlike preseason NFL football, college preseason games are just as important as the regular season. When I was in high school we had preseason tournament games where we would match up with some of the bigger schools. These games were for fun to see just how each team could do against a team that was bigger than you. But it also counted on the whole season record just as though we were playing against a team in our legue. I did not play basketball however.

Center court sections are probably saved for the teams and for the coaches. I am sure there will be a huge turnout since they are opening their new building.

Something tells me this town isn't quite ready for the NBA or NHL.

If it was NBA or NHL I would pay the price but not for a college basketball game.

College basketball draws the same amount of fans as the NBA does especially when the team is doing well. They are also more exciting to watch with the students making the entertainment. in the NBA true the players and the cheerleaders have to fit the bill with their performance but in college the student section also leads the chants. The worst thing that I have seen professional sport wise, is the use of an organ to boost the crowds moral. This is what the cheerleaders are for. Not saying that I am against the NBA or NHL comming to town but both college sports and professional have to exist in harmony with each other.

Yeah it was a great atmosphere.
MU played well and KC really supported them.

Players kept tripping over a decal on the court, but other than that I think it was a success.
