Anyone noticed the final touches going on at the Reiger Building, at 1920 main? Its directly across the street from the lovely Midwest Hotel. It is also the former site of the Old Dixie Belle. The new owner converted the upper floors to his living space, and the first floor is now being finished up for a rug store, The House of Kilms. He just finished a roof top addition, which is essentially a single large room, wood on the north side, and floor to ceiling glass panels on the other 3 sides. The wooden slats run horizontally, and go all the way down to the ground floor, but are only the width of the "room" on the roof. Its really quite dramatic, and the veiws up there must be kick ass! He's beautifully restored the original sylight panels on the first floor, added an iron balcony on the 3rd floor, south side, and an additional balcony on the second floor, facing west. If you haven't checked it out yet, you really need to. If someone happens to be down there with a camera, or already has a picture, could you post it? It is so cool.

They have done a very nice job with that building. The new addition looks pretty cool. The glass just went up. I never went in the DB, but you wouldn't even be able to tell that a bar was once in that space.

The retail on the first floor is a welcome addition. That's a really nice space for a store.
