Damn this is starting to sound like a huge deck of cards......one false step and they all fall?

I agree the parking garages need to be coordinated but so much seems to be riding on where and when these garages are in place...make a freaking decision.

Plans for a new Bartle Hall ballroom are on hold while the city rethinks major public investments in a crucial downtown redevelopment area.

At issue is not only the site of the approximately $50 million ballroom approved by voters last year, but also parking garages the city has resolved to build to assist the planned Metropolitan Performing Arts Center.

That garage investment now may be linked to a proposed South Loop entertainment district that also has been mentioned as a possible new home for H&R Block Inc.

A final decision on the ballroom site had been expected last month from the city's ballroom expansion oversight committee. But the committee's decision was delayed at the request of Mayor Kay Barnes and City Manager Wayne Cauthen. Both wanted additional time to review ballroom and parking options.
