Places for Wedding Reception Downtown

Post by BurningMustard »

Anybody know of cool places to have a wedding reception downtown? I know the popular ones like hotels, town pavilion, clubhouse on baltimore, etc... Wondering if there were any hidden treasures.

What about the Crown Center area?

Thanks!

scarritt building has a cool place I've heard.

Bartle hall has a ballroom but not sure how good it is.

KC Southern's new HQ might have something cool to do with that train car

Club 1000 on top of Tanner's is cool

The club on the NW side of downtown...it's like a private club, can't remember the name.

city market has some small meeting areas that are better for rehersal dinners

Crown Center area of downtown you could do Union Station, Hyatt, Westin, Crown Center convention hall area, American restaurant.

My brother and his wife had a wedding reception this past May at the Webster House in downtown KC...very nice, indeed.

I think they close off the whole back part. It is pricey, 6K for the main concourse, no tables or anything. However, it is probable worth it. I went to a reception on the second floor of the union cafe, very nice.

I think there are some meeting and conference rooms in Union Station that might be cool, depending on what they look like.

There is a private club called the River Club on Quality Hill. It's the small building with big windows right next to Case Park and the Lewis and Clark statue.

The Loretto is also very cool. It's about 3 miles south of Downtown on West 39th.

yeah those would be nice...the cheaper one just ropes off the 2nd level of the food court...I walked by there once when a reception was going on & was turned off....the other larger spaces would be awesome.

For a one of a kind never-forget reception, might I suggest the Edge of Hell or The Beast in the West Bottoms?

sad part about g2g's statement is when the city was talking about regulating the houses, some of the owners were talking about all the weddings they held throughout the year.

Lidia's has a loft you can reserve for wedding receptions. One of the staff members at my school had her reception there this summer. The food was great and the prices were very reasonable, she thought.

tat2kc, thanks for the idea of Lidia's. Looks they will only hold about 100, I need room for 200-225. Althought I think Lidia's might be great for the rehearsal dinner.

Lidias is a bit small, for sure. I'd have to vote for Webster House. I'be been to a couple parties there in the evening, and it is really beautiful. The views out the windows of downtown are amazing.

Also, check out the Little Theatre in Municipal Auditorium. It is a great space. http://www.kcconvention.com/3_facility/ ... little.htm

You'd have to hire a caterer. Try Arcadian Events. They do tons of weddings and would do a great job there.

I've seen some wedding receptions set up at the Westin Crown Center, in front of the waterfall. That's a beautiful setting.
