Here is an article I found in the AZ REpublic this morning about a huge chunk of land east of town that they are starting to develop. They are expecting upwards of 900,000 residents by 2060, and are considering ways to avoid the mistakes made in other parts of the valley, including making it a city made of six huge new urbanism type developments, or making it a green city, making it mostly self reliant for energy. For a city with almost no urbanism, and almost no interst in anything other than single family housing, this may be interesting to watch, expecially since they are working with a piece of land that has almost no devlopment currently.
