Ideas on developing downtown from the AZ Republic

It looks like Phoenix is trying to do the same things we are, only they have much less to start with (but much more land to work with!) This includes links to articles about what a few other cities have done successfully.

Houston downtown advocates commissioned a 1993 study that found young residents were hungering for a missing "cool factor" in their housing choices. Loft builders seized on the opportunity, and the downtown population swelled by 69 percent.

I hope KC developers paid attention to this.
