Minnesota 2015 Part 6

Post by Roanoker »

Water everywhere.
Image

Dark splashes.
Image

You can almost hear it.
Image

Calmer side.
Image

Twists and turns...
Image

Soft and hard.
Image

Broader view.
Image

Stand back!
Image

Squared off.
Image

Rocks or falls?
Image

Like an upstairs lake.
Image

As it says...

You can almost make up your own scenes in this red rock.
Image

This rock likes to break off as if it had been cut.
Image

There’s the café where we ate lunch.
Image

Train, carrying energy to another place.
Image

This bird thinks he is controlling the water flow.
Image

You do occasionally find a flower here and there.
Image

Water plants.
Image

Safe to wade?
Image

No place to go.
Image

Room for a picnic.
Image

Another flower opportunity.
Image

Close experience.

Mr. Bee, doing his thing.
Image

I guess I took some liberties with these flowers.
Image

These are fine, just as they are. Maybe it is a barber shop just for flowers.
Image

You have to look up once in a while. They must have had a great view of the place from up there.
Image

These birds be everywhere.
Image

I’m running out of ways to show these pictures.
Image

Here, I just added more sky so as not to lose any detail. It wouldn’t have been a big loss.
Image

I consider the shadow to be as important as the flower that casts it.
Image

This one took a little extra effort, but the antennae remain intact.
Image

I couldn’t figure out how to extend the sky without messing up the buildings, so this is my solution.
Image

Sky extension was easier here.
Image

I just chopped off the left side on this one.

About the last group of pictures… Actually, only one picture… If you don’t know how to spell a word, you DON’T put it at the top of a picture in giant, red letters! My son pointed out that I had misspelled Sioux falls. Sorry about that.

Anyway, let’s hope I can do better this time.

We are still driving through SIOUX Falls.
Image

A clock with its own house.
Image

We are visiting Palisades State Park in South Dakota.
Image

A river runs through it.
Image

My son didn’t think all that stuff on top of the hill should be there, but I like it.
Image

Husband reads the sign.
Image

Son joins him.
Image

Trees and fences are always nice.
Image

So we’ll have another.
Image

This was a tiny little flower. I sharpened it and did a lens blur on the background. Now it is a 3D thing.
Image

If you had been standing on that outlook platform, you would have seen me take your picture.
Image

If you were paddling down the river and found this rock in your path, what would you do?

Almost a feeding trough for hummingbirds.
Image

I guess we’ll walk that way.
Image

Good place to walk if you like trees.
Image

One confirmation that this is Palisades Park.
Image

Couldn’t figure out how to turn the portrait-oriented image on the right into a 4:3 space. This was the oh-well solution.
Image

A similar dilemma. This time, the image is on the left. Part of it shows up larger on the right.
Image

Kids, enjoying the tall rocks.
Image

They are massive and impressive. The rocks.
Image

I may have taken too many portrait-oriented images. Now grasping for straws. Or trees.
Image

Keep arms inside the boat!
Image

Yet again. I copied the left side of the image (on the right) and shaved off enough to obliterate the hard, vertical line.
Image

I couldn’t find any puppies. The kids will have to do.

If you try hard enough, you will bloom, even in rocky places.
Image

Appears to be hewn. But it’s not.
Image

Massive block. Rocky block.
Image

Did the tree have to grow there?
Image

Rocky river guardians.
Image

The building-like rocks seem to be leaning over to get a better glimpse of what is going on below.
Image

My son must have found a flower of interest to photograph.
Image

If I got myself into that position, somebody would have to unroll me.
Image

More “hewn” rocks. Lots of places to sit.
Image

Any flowers you find in this place must be photographed.
Image

This was a portrait-oriented image that got copied, flipped and placed side by side. Now I see faces in the middle.
Image

A rather pleasant scene.

Floating down the river sounds like a good idea.
Image

My son patiently waits for me to take several pictures of him atop the tall rock.
Image

Closer. (With a zoom lens, not actually closer.)
Image

Bee still!
Image

I spotted a young stranger on top of another tall rock. I decided his name should be Adonis.
Image

Maybe this is the same young man, with an attractive friend.
Image

Another river shot. Peace in the river valley.
Image

You have to give credit to trees that attempt to grow here.
Image

Back on the ground, that big flower towers over itself.
Image

Just follow the yellow brick road… Oh, wait! It’s red.
Image

Looks tempting. But don’t jump!
Image

Star struck.

Reminds me of the 1958 movie, “The Blob" starring Steve McQueen in his first film role and Aneta Corseaut, who later starred as Opie’s teacher and Andy's girlfriend.
Image

It’s a river, but it looks like a peaceful lake here.
Image

Looks like a lady’s bracelet. And earrings, I guess.
Image

More of the same, with a different twist.
Image

Flowers spotted in this locale must be captured.
Image

And so… That bug is part of the deal. This started out as a portrait-oriented image.
Image

Are these the ones that bring about sneezing? They are showing off here.
Image

Getting petals to emerge must be a struggle.
Image

As we crossed a bridge, I was taken by its geometry and the blue sky.
Image

This is the view from one side of the bridge.
Image

This is the view from the other side. Notice the lookout fence on the left and the man on the right.
Image

This was a portrait-oriented image. I slapped some of its water onto the right side. The rock has pretty colors.

I created this image with the wrong aspect ratio. I don't know how to edit it out, so I'll just post the correction here.
Image

Sorry about that.
