Minnesota 2015 Part 4

Post by Roanoker »

This type of flower always reminds me of hard candy.
Image

There are so many flowers here, they look like common ground cover.
Image

I suppose the fence is there in case the flowers want to play volleyball.
Image

These flowers seem to be in 3D. If you blur your eyes and tilt your head, they will appear even more so.
Image

Zinnias clamor for attention.
Image

Interloper.
Image

That yellow-orange color doesn’t want to give up.
Image

I cheated by copying the upper-right flower and pasting it into the middle to fill a blank spot. I copied that little red flower and pasted it just behind the other one, twisting it a bit to obscure the cloning. Then I tell you about it.
Image

Isn’t the lighting great in this picture? I was lucky.
Image

Maybe it is tennis this time.
Image

What lovely elegance.
Image

Concrete stairs provide a nice contrast.

Coneflowers will share the stage with other coneflowers.
Image

Or just keep to themselves.
Image

Somebody should let that little orange guy come through.
Image

This would be a good place to visit on Arbor Day.
Image

Sometimes it is difficult to decide if you should be yellow or white.
Image

Many decisions were made here.
Image

I helped this one do the 3D thing.
Image

More 3D but in a brighter color.
Image

I’ve seen cars with red paint that didn’t shine as much as this flower does.
Image

"Where is the groom? He needs me on his lapel."
Image

These look fake, but they’re real.
Image

Floating in space. I did nothing to change the background. I must have been looking straight down on these specimens.

The Minnesota Landscaping Arboretum is a beautiful place to visit.
Image

Beauty at every turn.
Image

This giant butterfly needs a really big flower.
Image

Not quite red. Not quite orange.
Image

I suppose this is the arboretum visitor center, but I’m not sure.
Image

It is sometimes difficult to capture detail in white flowers, but these are a happy exception. Plus, the maroon color in the flower centers and in the big leaves go wonderfully well with white.
Image

Stuttin’ their purple stuff.
Image

I thought this bright pink thing had little white flowers somewhere.
Image

Oh, there they are!
Image

We’ll just have another shot of the maroon and white flowers. Maybe they’re not really white. Kind of pink.
Image

You can’t beat yellow roses.
Image

Can you think of a better place to sit and relax?

Every garden needs at least one fountain.
Image

This is what flowers look like when they have a bad-hair day.
Image

Oh! That big butterfly we saw at a distance a while back is actually made of Legos. So is the flower on which he rests.
Image

If you had a choice, would you pick the flowers or the leaves?
Image

Now it is a choice between yellow and red, I like the yellow ones best.
Image

The red flowers command attention, but the silvery background doesn’t back down.
Image

There always seems to be one buttinsky.
Image

This fountain has its own garden.
Image

Be sure to turn right.
Image

Lazy way to deal with a portrait-oriented image. Just copy it, flip the result and paste it alongside.
Image

Pink paintbrushes dipped in yellow paint.
Image

Color can overwhelm.

Flower, trying to look like the sun.
Image

Flowers trying to look like strawberries.
Image

I wonder if music comes out of these trumpets.
Image

Closeups are nice, but sometimes we need to back off and see the surroundings.
Image

Show-off.
Image

Tiny slippers to be worn in a faerie garden.
Image

Listening for a cue.
Image

Yellow confusion.
Image

Wasp on a high rise.
Image

Copying and flipping seemed like a good idea. Now it looks like a temple with a basin and throne. And whatever other Rorschach items you can spot.
Image

Like marching soldiers.
Image

Another instance where I copied a flower from a cropped part of the picture and then plopped it into a bare spot. Then I had to clone in underlying shadowed greenery. Nothing is ever just straightforward.

Like a wedding present.
Image

Pick a flower. Any flower.
Image

Some got painted with a little red.
Image

I cut out a small 4:3 corner of the original, portrait-oriented image, plopped most of the picture on top of it and then cut around the edges. I kind of like the result.
Image

Variations of light, color and shapes come into play. Too lazy to clone out that white thing.
Image

It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Image

Bee-ootiful!
Image

Stunning star jumps out at you.
Image

Looks like tiny little yellow flowers in the middle of each of these bright pink beauties.
Image

Reminds me of corsages girls wore in the 50s as they danced in their formal gowns.
Image

Some leaves like to wear maroon.
Image

Very red.

“Me and my shadow.”
Image

Pink wins out over green this time.
Image

The original picture was a mass of yellow flowers. I selected a portion to use as a background and applied a filter. I liked the way it looked and decided to leave it alone. I cut away the one flower to reveal itself in its true color.
Image

The tiny yellow things on this “bloom” are intriguing.
Image

Here are a bunch of them, but you can’t see the little yellow doodads.
Image

All kinds of blooms to view.
Image

Like a fireworks display.
Image

These were two of my three favorite colors to put together when I was a child. The other color was yellow.
Image

If magenta is your thing...
Image

Purple cotton balls.
Image

There’s my yellow.
Image

I took the lazy way out on this portrait-oriented image. Copy, flip and paste.

Orange wins out.
Image

Added a filter to the daisy things to artsy them up a bit.
Image

They must be hoarse.
Image

We have spotted this flower in many places. It always reminds me of candy.
Image

Roses are red… Well, not this one.
Image

Pretty in pink.
Image

Ruffly, purple circles with white centers.
Image

Purple leaves that look like sharp tongues.
Image

This is another plant we’ve seen in many places. Tiny white flowers on top of bright, deep pink leaves.
Image

I was going to skip this one, but I’d have to get the last picture from the following day. So it’s like a command performance.
Image

Really red. All the way down.
Image

It’s as if they are putting on a show. Maybe they are.
