Interesting article re: cost to improve/fix the combined sewer issue that many of the nations older cities (including KC) face.
Love the bit about the River Des Pere tunnel under Forest Park.
There's a mention about KC's agreement with EPA as well, and the green infrastructure plan in the Marlborough neighborhood.
Oh, and this depressing quote about the Mississippi River, which could apply equally to KC's perception of the Missouri:
“We have a very fast-flowing, managed river that’s really constructed for commerce,” says Hoelscher, the sewer agency’s CEO. “We don’t have beaches. It’s not used for recreation.” In short, it’s a river that doesn’t need a lot of coddling.
