Nebraska-Dakota 2014 Part 8

Post by Roanoker »

A place to stand and view.
Image

Mostly grass.
Image

Bright city lights! Um, no. Just a bright, Badlands spot.
Image

Back to grass. But closer. And filtered.
Image

At least some of the area is flat.
Image

Still making allowances for that grass.
Image

This plant has a nice view.
Image

Flowers try to sneak in. I will let them.
Image

Before, we had long-horned sheep. Now we have people.
Image

I added a few stripes of my own.
Image

You have to have some way to get here.
Image

There must be a volcano nearby. This plant likes lava.

Who likes flowers? Bees. And I.
Image

Num num.
Image

What planet are we on?
Image

Are we going to drive through this thing?
Image

I think I’m crossing over into that third stage.
Image

Worth climbing? Guess so.
Image

How nice of the park people.
Image

Sort of like an ancient temple.
Image

So, where do they hide?
Image

Super dune hopper.
Image

Dry beauty.
Image

Back where we started.

Maybe we’re on the moon.
Image

How did it all form?
Image

Must be something interesting.
Image

“Please help me find my keys."
Image

How can those horizontal stripes be so level and consistent?
Image

Flowers blooming in rock, right on the edge.
Image

What’s on the other side?
Image

Not a good place to walk.
Image

The following four photos were taken through the windshield. Rear view mirror or dashboard had to be cloned out.
Image

And a sky cloned in. In all four pics.
Image

Don’t mind any bug splatter.
Image

Don’t get dizzy as we careen around the curve!

I guess we’re at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center.
Image

There were lots of things to see in the visitor center. Only a few pictures are shown here.
Image

…such as this dog fossil.
Image

Which one to pick?
Image

Cleaning up a fossil.
Image

Hey! We know where we are!
Image

Does this place never end?
Image

Guess not.
Image

Gotta grab ‘em when you see ‘em. If you stare through them, they may turn 3D.
Image

He’s always looking at something.
Image

It seemed like a good idea to take a picture of this twisted tree base at the time.
Image

Whoa! Not so close anymore.

Peaceful Badlands.
Image

When the background is too busy...
Image

Purple flowers cannot be ignored.
Image

Like round rubies.
Image

The path goes all around.
Image

Dark evergreens grace the light rock.
Image

Evergreens have their own special berries.
Image

Aww...
Image

More trees and rocks.
Image

Trees stand guard at the white wall.
Image

Again, a too busy background.
Image

Magical path through the forest.

Mmm, flowers.
Image

Bee careful!
Image

Trees and rocks.
Image

I wondered what the three diagonal dots middle left side were. Lens flare? Aliens? Then I realized it was a reflection of something in the vehicle from which I took this picture.
Image

I thought this looked like an interesting golf course.
Image

Looks like a Grecian temple. Taken from a moving vehicle.
Image

Furry sand, as I see it.
Image

More temple impressions.
Image

Otherworldly.
Image

I called this picture “Hole in One.” But it could also be called “Kissing Rocks."
Image

Chipmunks be everywhere.
Image

Being tricky here to salvage as much detail as possible.
