Above Omaha
If anyone else does a helecopter, you need way more than the 1 hour I did! I can think of sooooo many more shots I did not get! Probably needed 3 or 4 hours.
If they are too big for your screne, click here.. http://www.bradwilliamsphotography.com/aerial.html My website will resize them to fit your screne.

Re: Above Omaha
What is the name of this park? Or is it a business center that has a park like setting. I and my partner stopped here about 6 years ago and was impressed.brad_in_omaha wrote: Above Omaha

No trees were destroyed in the sending of this contaminant- free message.
However, a significant number of electrons have been inconvenienced.

Great Pictures!
Nice to see the 2nd phase of the Medical center getting going. I really like the look of the renderings I have seen with the 2 identical towers.

Next time I'm in Omaha, I'll try and get some pics of Dundee. There are some great shops and houses in that area.

That's the Heartland of America Park. It's a city park but around Conagra was closed to the public up until last week. You can see the new trail around the office buildings.
Re: Above Omaha
That riverfront park would be a great idea for KC's West Bottoms.

Re: Above Omaha
I don't know if that's what inspired the comment or not... but we lost a 'West Bottoms' of our own with the construction of Con Agra's campus and this park. Two dozen brick warehouse buildings were lost... all that remains is this one...
Heartland of America Park is a great asset... but it would have been nice if it could have come at a slightly smaller cost in terms of historic architecture.

Personally I can't wait till I'm up there in June. I like Omaha and look forward to visiting.
I plan on taking plenty of pictures.

The ConAgra Campus is outrageous. At the foot of the dense, historic Old Market, they transition to a sprawling suburuban campus on the banks of the river. To do it, they bulldozed much of the great warehouse building stock.eomaha.com wrote: Heartland of America Park is a great asset... but it would have been nice if it could have come at a slightly smaller cost in terms of historic architecture.
If I didn't already boycott processed foods, I would boycott ConAgra specifically. I hate what they did to Omaha.
Re: Above Omaha
There was a great book that came out a few years ago detailing Omaha architecture:
Building for the Ages, Omaha's Architectural Landmarks
I bought it for my sister...it's a little tough to track down. Really nicely done, though.
Has some cool stuff, including pictures of lost buildings.

Yes, I own a copy of it... it is a very good book.
On the other hand... the Heartland of America Park is a fabulous downtown green space. Of course it would have been nice if it were surrounded by old brick warehouse buildings, but what's done is done.At the foot of the dense, historic Old Market, they transition to a sprawling suburuban campus on the banks of the river.

Re: Above Omaha
The park is indeed nice, but the worst part is that there is a huge chunk in the middle of downtown that isn't devoted to the park, like ConAgra's huge front lawn. They could have built a park, an appropriately urban headquarters and preserved half of the buildings that were there.
Re: Above Omaha
ConAgra's campus there is a pretty apt symbol for how ConAgra (and Big Ag generally) treats the earth, farmers, and we the consumers. slash and burn baby!
