I'm guessing it was something akin to this.

His nearest competitor fell off his flagpole?? How high up was he, did he die, was he tethered? So many questions that will never have an answer.

"YOU ARE HERE" Exhibit on Display at the Box Gallery.

Commerce Bank Building (1000 Walnut St, Suite 200)

"Looks back in time at the immediate area surrounding the Box Gallery at 10th and Walnut, focusing on the period between 1900 and 1930. Almost all of the buildings at that time are no longer here. Using historic photographs and memorabilia, curator Bruce Bettinger presents a picture of life during an exciting time in the history of Kansas City."

This exhibit actually made me incredibly sad. Such beautiful buildings used to line these streets. Incredible facades and interiors destroyed. And why?

Wrong Bettinger, Taxi. You're thinking of Rick.

Bruce is a good guy.

I really wish people would continue to add to this!! I don't have any of these old photos... I even went to the downtown library to see more of these photos in the Missouri Valley collection... So fascinating how this town used to be... I would love to have experienced down town before I-70 cut off the river market. From what I understand they tore down a ton of buildings.

Photo showing Auditorium Bar in that parking garage on W. 14th Street and Wyandotte. I don't know the year the photo was taken. Anyone remember this place, or the pizza parlor?

This is the building.

The Auditorium Bar was pretty large, dark and not without character, but not swellegant.

There's a postcard show May 18 and 19 at the Lenexa Community Center; the contact is Cole Woodbury (816) 294-8138. There are always many regional dealers with a million KC cards.
