Kansas City + Tosspot + early 2008

Post by Tosspot »

These are photos from mid February through all of March.

And to begin...
Schugg got me access to a highrise balcony, and I liked this shot...

And that's all. This takes a lot of effort, so feel free to leave a comment to keep me motivated.  :)

These can all be viewed one by one in my online gallery, at http://www.madnessmatrix.com/zenphoto/

And of course, my photo site which I update at least once as day, is at http://www.madnessmatrix.com

ooo... I like the Fisheye ones, those particularly stick out and are wacky. I also like the moving feel of some of those others such as the phone booth image. Hell they are all nice though, I like the advanced editing it adds to the picture.
How did you get those people to let you take their picture?

Great pictures.  You made the skywalks in DT actually look good in the first photo.

Great pics.  I really thought that first one was a drawing.  Really interesting photo editing.

Toss man, with every new picture thread you post you keep amazing me. Great work.
Though i do have to confess (and it's not a bad thing) but your fish eye pics were powerful enough to disorient me and turn my gut a little.... or maybe it was that I was sitting too close to the computer screen having drank a wee bit too much whiskey. Either way, kudos.  :)

BTW, I have wondered how many shots of exposure do you bracket with?

Love the shots and effects Tosspot! I would love to know what photo editing software you use to get that painted photo effect. I 'm thinking you sneak into the Andrews McNeel office late at night and secretly use the one of a kind "Calvin and Hobbes" photo Transmogrifier.
Think ahead.

Midtownkid is right. It's Photoshop and an HDR/Tonemapping program called Photomatix.

I recall from another thread that Pumpkinstalker had bought one of your prints to use for decorating his apartment.  So, if I were interested, where would a person find that kind of thing?

The fisheye lens is so much fun. About the people photos, they're either from talking to people on the street, or my coworkers or whatever. I find I enjoy taking photos of people quite a bit.

Schugg, when you get your SLR we're gonna have to do HDR photos of our cameras!

Cool... glad to hear it.

Thanks Swamp...
IraGlacialis wrote: BTW, I have wondered how many shots of exposure do you bracket with?
For the photos here that I did HDR with, I believe all but one are actually from a single RAW that I just assign different exposures to and save each version - converting into HDR from there. Although for the "Kill the Hate" photo, I believe I manually bracketing five or six shots straight from the camera.

Thanks. The effect you refer to is likely HDR (high dynamic range) which I do by shooting RAW and combining the exposures in a software called Photomatix. Which brings me to the next two comments...

Photomatix.

I do it differently than that tutorial you posted.... I don't bother with the Photoshop Merge to HDR function. I'll prep my source images in Photoshop, take them into Photomatix, and then tweak the output image back in Photoshop. But the primary means of this is with Photomatix, not Photoshop.

Yes indeed - if you a specific photo (or photos) in mind,  let me know and we can get started. PM me or email me to the address in my profile.
