well, maybe if the noise is nestled under the freeway the neighbors won't freak out. I live near there and drive by it weekly at least, those houses are close. And it's johnson county. sorry to be a naysayer, but it seems like trouble to me.

I live a stone's throw from that location, so definitely looking forward to making that my go-to bar.

Wow...I'm sorry.

Hopefully Grinders can withstand this experiment. Be sad to lose them downtown.

Could expand 103rd over I-35 if they wanted to. Yes Stonewell Inn was sold to Grinders.

It's a great spot for a Grinders. 3 buildings on 5 acres of land. 103rd & Pflumm. Surrounded by apartments and a fairly new subdivision with light industrial north & south of it, I-35 behind it, JoCoJuCo down the street, Oak Park Mall close by and it's a straight shot down 103rd all the way from Holmes in K.C. Lenexa mayor & city council are 120% behind it.

Tentatively - Small house that used to be a coffee shop will be used for takeout. Big house will be restaurant and bar. Shack next to it might be a BBQ shack. Might also be a Mercedes coupe up a tree somewhere. There will also be an outdoor stage along with 2-3 outdoor patios and even maybe a dog park in back. Opening 4/1/13.

Theme/design will be along the lines of Grinders downtown, but with it's own unique flair.

It will be roadhousey. Drunk patrons will be tossed out the front door when they cause trouble. Chicken wire on the stage to protect the bands . Hot chicks dancing on tables, taking their clothes off. Bar fights & slashed tires every night. Dalton will be the head bouncer.

Judging from the feedback being received so far...That area is dying for something like Grinders to move in. Until it does open, make sure you try Pizza Man next door, the guy makes some great Italian Beef sammies.

After seeing the site, I get it! This is actually a cool idea, I hope it takes off (even though i don't really like KS).

Hope everyone brings a designated driver...

Went to the beer tasting last night at Grinders. These events are quickly becoming a monthly event for my wife and me. Last night the beer was from Mothers brewery and the food from Stretch. The food included Wild Boar spring rolls, clams casino, smoked brisket shep’s pie, red curry game hen and a nice little chocolate almond butter custard at the end. The beer was really exceptional. They are doing some great things down in Springfield MO.

Getting a 5 course meal from some of the better restaurants in town, plus great beer from small breweries for $35 is one of the best deals in town. Most of the time you get a free beer glass from the brewery. I never have enough beer glasses.

Good to hear, I've been wanting to attend one. How's the turnout? Do you need to sign up early?

They post it on their website early in the month. It’s $40 at the door, $35 on-line. I like the way other restaurants get to use the space along with a brewery. We've had food from Grunauer, Julian, The American restaurant and others. And it’s never anything on their regular menu, just a chance for their chefs to get a little crazy. The event itself is in Grinder’s West.

Last night was full, I don't know if they sell out but the ones we attended were plenty full.

Lenexa residents angry about new Grinders restaurant and concert location
Grinders is also known for its music and there is concern that an outdoor setup will be featured at the Lenexa location.

"It'll directly affect the people right across the street, but the concern is it'll overflow on to everybody," neighbor Lynden Peters said.

But Grinders' owner said the neighbors have it all wrong.

"We are not building a musical venue. I can't stress that enough and that's the problem the neighborhood has. They think we're putting in a musical venue which we are not," Stretch Rumaner said during a phone interview while he was in California.

^Because in Lenexa, they don't want anything that remotely represents cultural activities. If it were a Walmart or gas station, there would be no complaints.

Grinders isn't know for music. It's a restaurant. 2 restaurants. They just happen to have a little music venue behind it. For most of the regulars that hang out there, the music kinda gets in the way sometimes.

If all these folks were so concerned, they would of showed up at the meetings they held discussing this project. Last meeting had maybe 4 area residents show up.

Want to get the residents to shut up really fast. Tell them that instead of Grinders it will now be Converted into a Homeless Shelter or Halfway House for Recovering Alcoholics
