Afterword Tavern & Shelves- 1834 Grand

Post by kboish »

This has been discussed in the generic Xroads thread, but Joyce is reporting that they are planning a May opening so I thought it could get its own thread.

Afterword Tavern & Shelves is a bookstore with small eats, beer, wine, and coffee. I am very interested to see how this turns out!

Has anyone seen any movement or life in the building? I still haven't.

I walk by it on my way to work every day. I’ve seen pretty steady work being done on the back area where it looks like a patio will be going.

I've chatted with the owner. They were sidelined by some personal stuff and it's now back on track.

Good to hear. I am looking forward to more activation along Grand. It will help stitch together East and West Xroads.

Will they have cats? Seems like places like this would have cats.

Yes, and skip the beer, they should serve brandy, port and absinthe.

Cat cafes are the new thing, if you haven't heard.

Forgot to mention that they'll be focusing mostly on NEW books. The space looks great and should be open soon (but no official date, AFAIK).

There's a Cat Cafe (Whisker's) opening a few doors North of Freshwater in the same strip mall.
