SOT - South of Truman - 1521 Grand

I stopped by SOT last night for some drinks and small plates. It is a really interesting place.

In addition to normal, classic cocktails, they have their own cocktails that are as imaginative as anything I've seen around town. I had some sort of whiskey drink that was served inside an ice cube that needed to be broken with a little mallet. It's a bit strange/over the top, but I really enjoyed the drinks. They have a smoked rum cocktail and one with popcorn as well. Each was really well executed.

For apps, we had a meat and cheese plate, a sage/cheese lasagna w/pulled pork and a cheese and nut concoction. All were delicious.

With the newish Thai place, Record Bar and Belfry in the Czar Bar - the stretch between 15th/16th on Grand is really coming along. SOT will have a nice back patio come spring time.

was curious about that place, it's owned by Ron Burg if i remember right. Great family, have to give it a try. thanks

It is Berg's place. It's is his old office space. His studio is still upstairs.
