Delaware restaurants and the Harry's stretch doing better than CM square area weeknights. With significant bump in RM population, would have thought the neighborhood would support City Market square more consistently. You'd think streetcar flow would help weeknights in CM square area but doesn't seem to yet. Maybe it was just coincidentally the times I've been there that CM has been dead. More units going in to E end should help long term.
The City Market needs a major re-do.
Pshaw! It's fine! Trust me, the people running City Market definitely know how to create a dynamic urban space. All you have to do is simply look at their Centropolis building at 5th and Grand. Look at the quality of materials used, the way the sidewalk parking garage vents create complete opacity at street level. Truly, they understand how create value in a walkable urban setting. /s

I like to envision new construction on the parking lot along Grand between Third and Fifth. I see a 4-5 story structure with full-perimeter active frontage. The eastern loading dock of the current east Market building becomes a hallway that joins the two structures together. Going east from Grand is large atrium that ties into the current Steamboat Arabia atrium. Maybe it's open-air? The upper floors are a mix of commercial and residential. Imagine apartments with west-facing balconies looking out over the Market, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells!

Exterior design of this building is tasteful contemporary. Let's put a green roof on top for good measure. Parking is invisible.

No cornices.

Went for lunch. That's pretty good food for the price point. The carbonara was very good with a memorable presentation!

We'll be back for cocktails this weekend.

The carbonara dish looks good, but chicken, grana, tomato, and brussels sprouts? Seems less like a carbonara and more like... well, something that's not very much like a carbonara. Sounds tasty, though.

A purist probably wouldn't have liked the marigold garnishes either. It worked whatever you call it!

Just got back....really great prices....beautiful space. Most of the food we had was great...the dumplings didn't hit the mark.

Not being sarcastic here, but are you referring to the Pierogi?

It's a very specific and different take on 'dumplings'.

I think there was a ricotta and spinach dumpling as well.

We had the Pierogi, it was good paired with the apple butter.

Every time I see a pierogi on a menu, I long for a bierock.

Dumpling entree... The pierogi app wasn't great though now that you mentioned it...
