Orange Box

Post by grovester »

Didn't see a permanent topic on this place. Have been 3 times and just keep liking it more.

We were first lured there because of the bosses fixation on pork tenderloins and they are near best in town. Thick, hand breaded and gigantic even by tenderloin standards. I've also had their tomato soup and french bread and today I though I'd eat lite and have the fish taco. Full size flour tortilla filled with breaded fish, coleslaw, chipotle sauce and pico. Ridiculously good.

Like the tenderloin, you could easily save half for dinner. 10 bucks for the taco a side and a drink. And the chef comes out and says Hi.

I really enjoy this place, they just started doing Take Home dinners and they are very good. They make this warm brownie pudding thing that is out of this world. They are also starting up Brunch, i think its offered Saturday and Sunday but not sure

The facebook page is a great way to see the weekly menu, daily specials, etc

Consistently delicious food in large portions. That tenderloin is huge. Salmon "rueben" w/ dill/caper/onion sauce was fantastic last week. Appreciate the friendly staff, low key vibe & variety of dishes. A regular spot on my lunch rotation now

I was only disappointed that this wasn't about Valve's release from a few years ago for a second, until I realized there was a cool new spot to check out.

Just tried them today - the Mrs. had the fish taco & I had the fried chicken. Really good stuff...we'll be back for sure.

I was going to this place every few weeks the last part of 2012 - and then it seemed to be closed for an overhaul for about a month, and I haven't been back. Did they change anything? I assume they're still doing 2-3 entrees a day with an assortment of sides?

From what I can tell, the menu stays as is for a week, & then they change it. There were 5-6 options yesterday.

You need something in that picture for size reference. It's freaking enormous.

The plate is a full size dinner plate - mine was relatively smaller piece of fish, can be as long as tortilla. Is a freaky tangent of, yet not quite like a traditional fish taco that would have avocado and corn tortillas. Still uniquely tasty and zesty. Needs to be a daily item.

Down SW Blvd look for Roasterie's huge plane on roof, is up 27th.

The location is kind of unique because its pretty much in a middle of neighborhood. I remember seeing on his facebook that he wanted to open another one of these in a similar kind of location. There is an odd stretch of Retail looking buildings on 41st between Holly and Roanoke that would fit that. Where else are there commericial buildings in the middle of neighborhoods?

45th, between Bell and Wyoming
NW corner of 37th and Virginia
SE corner of 20th and Summit (tho probably too close to the current location)

there are lots of commercial/industrial type spaces in north hyde park and longfellow, among or very near residential. i think north hyde park is very overlooked.

it's not hard to imagine some cool stuff in these areas - i think all it would take is a pioneering watering hole to do so:

God, Hyde Park would be so awesome if it had more commercial stuff happening. I know Troost is supposed to fill that gap, but having a single, pretty central node a la Brookside would do wonders for making Hyde Park the go-to urban boojie hood.

There is a nice commercial property for sale on the Corner of 34th and Baltimore. I think it would make a great little restaurant or some kind of market. Back in the day it use to be a Grocery Store

I think the price is kind of high
