New Years 2009

Post by KCPowercat »

Trying to compile things going on as I'm trying to find something for my group.  This is what I know so far

Hyatt - Same old black tie thing

P&L - Doing some red carpet deal...each bar has their own specials but there is also something you can buy to get a wristband into multiple bars...I haven't looked up many details yet.

I assume Martini Corner is doing their standard all bars for one type thing....anybody know any other specials going on?

I think Union Station is having their annual New Years Eve party, but of course it ends at about 12:30 or 1:00.

BTW - I'm no genius, but I'm fairly certain it would be New Years 2009  8)

we're booked at Terrace on Grand. better deal for hooch (open "premium" bar from 8-12:30 instead of stingy drink tickets) and a smaller crowd.

what is Terrace?

we're staying low-key - dinner at room 39, then probably champagne and movies at home.

No, Virginia, there is no Holiday Cab
Just heard back from Yellow Cab -- there will not be a Holiday Cab this year because of limited sponsorship, spokeswoman Nancy Cipolla says.
another reason to party close to home.

I wonder if it will actually be easier to get a cab on NYE since they won't be free.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

if we weren't starving our transit system to death, it would be a good opportunity to offer free bus rides and extend service until 2 AM.

well any reviews?

We did the uptown theatre thing...probably won't do that again...way too many people for way too few bartenders.  Bar was also running out of everything.

A group of my friends did the Indie.  We originally wanted to rent it out and have a private party.  They required 100 people @ $75, which would have not been difficult except for the fact that we started planning this thing about 3 weeks ago.  Typical.  $75 got you all you can drink (mid level premiums, no well crap) and a selection of beer (think Miller, Coors, Bud, Boulevard).  From my talks today with friends, it was a success.  We did not end up gettin the required 100 people there, so it was not a private party and was open to the public, but with the price being $75 @ the door, I do not think there was much of a chance of unwanted randoms coming into the party.  I expect that Ramsey will post a blog or at least pictures if you all follow his blog.

Side note:  I got to stay home with my sick wife.  I didn't think that it would be fair of me to leave her at home in bed layed up just for me to show up @ 4 am hammered.
