Re: Bice
As someone who never ate there before they closed, tell me more.
Re: Bice
The wife and I ate at Bice last night. Service was excellent and the food was good, not great, but good. Prices were a tad high for what we ate, but overall we enjoyed ourselves. The entire district was dead, hardly anyone coming and going, although Bristol seemed busy. We would rate Bice as a B mostly because we considered the food as just good and the decor is a little bland. Otherwise they definitely had the best service of all the restaurants that we've eaten at in the P&L.
On a side note, our favorite place to drink is definitely the rooftop bar at Bice! Great views and good service.

I also think the rooftop bar at Bice is one of the best places to have a drink in the city.
I had the misfortune to eat at Italian Gardens before they closed...I still wake up in a cold sweat at night thinking about it. Everything about it from the floors to the servers to the decor was a throwback to the 1950s/60s. The marinara had the consistency of and tasted like tomato soup. Taking the suggestion of the server, I tried the linguine w/clams and the clams were from a can. I always heard how this place was an institution and how the FFA attendees always went there, so I was excited to try it. I can't imagine that I was there on a night when things were 'off' because it was just sooo bad in so many ways. Am I the only one to have had a bad experience?PumpkinStalker wrote: As someone who never ate there before they closed, tell me more.

Aww, I liked how old school it was. No, not glamorous anymore but it had nostalgic charm. I can't say I remember the food being excellent, but it wasn't horrid or anything. I miss it.kcjak wrote: I also think the rooftop bar at Bice is one of the best places to have a drink in the city.

Don't know if it was mentioned before, but Bice Group set up a local web site for their triad operation in the P+L District:
http://bistrokansascity.bicegroup.com/9/home.html
I think they thought the nightlife operation would carry the whole operation. Cordish needs to just let them have a chunk of the pie and expand the Bice Lounge as another destination within the P+L.

I still have never been there...too many other new places to try when I am in town. It actually looks nice, from the photos. I can see where people think it looks a little bland and suburban...but I do think it looks pretty nice. The floor and chairs are cool. The food looks good, but I guess it's not, hu?

Re: Bice
I don't get the suburban feel when I'm in there...I like the more modern starker type of layout...and the patio is really cool.

Re: Bice
I might have to take my friends there after we go to the new movie theater. I sort of wanted to go to Czar and JPs though. We can Bar hop!

Re: Bice
In spite of their ups and serious downs with food, I still feel that the rooftop patio is the best in the City.
