the part that threw me in the article is when he says that he doesn't even know how many burger patties to order. ouch!

That is from an earlier visit -- this was my black bean burger, guacamole, lettuce, tomato and pickle creation.

Incredible beer-buzz food.  The burger is very good, for $6 a bit pricey but ok I guess.  (It is fresh and it's huge)

I bought a cheeseburger, fries, & chocolate shake.  The bill was like $14.50 !!  I was a bit shocked by that.  Shakes are $5.  Too expensive IMO.  I'll go back again but without the shake.  Too much for a meal.

haha, well for starters it was very sloppy and the place wasn't even busy. The burger tasted very bland, didn't have any flavor, also very dry. The meat was hard to bite into too. I was really excited for this place too, but it was deff a letdown. The people I went there with said the same and seemed very over cooked. I'll probably givenit another shot someday, but I'll stick to Westport Flea market and Wendys steak burgers. I love Wendy's burgers.

It has CHILI on it, of course it's messy.  If there is such a thing as a neat and tidy chili topped burger, I don't want it.  When I talked to the owner I mentioned how some complained that the burgers were inconsistently cooked.  He vowed to start making them all well done unless you requested otherwise, which I noted here.  Did you do your requesting otherwise?

My wife and I really enjoyed Chefburger.  I had KC BBQ Blue (probably messed up name) and sweet potato fried.  Both awesome.  My wife had mushroom swiss and friend green beans.  The entire meal was great.  Our burgers were both good.  None of the complaints we have heard from other forumers.  The best part of the meal was easily the friend green beans.  These things are unbelievable.  We sat @ a table with some other guys and they were interested and tried them and thought they were great also.  Not too crazy of a wait.  Restaurant was packed.  Every table full, and line about 20 deep.  We had our food in 15 minutes.

We had both been drinking most of the day, but were not falling over drunk or anything, and were starving.  This may have affected our perception of the food.

we had lunch at chefburger sunday. i'm happy to report that fried green tomatoes are still available on the BLFGT burger (that's bacon, lettuce, and a fried green tomato). this was also my first try of the veggie patty, which was very tasty (i eat meat, just not beef).

I went to ChefBurger on Saturday.  I liked the decor and glad to see some place local and quick in the P&L.  That said, I was pretty underwhelmed by my burger.  It was good, but nothing that I would feel compelled to recommend to others ("you have to try ChefBurger").  My wife's burger, for example, was completely raw.  I will go back because I do think they rushed the opening to serve the Big 12.  Still, not as impressed as I was hoping to be.

When we were there last week my burger was cooked medium,  which I was fine with personally since I am not a pantywaist about that.  But I thought at the time that it probably wouldn't fly with the burger buying masses.

As I said before, it surprised me for a pricey burger that the patty is as small as a fast food joint.  For that price, you'd expect a thick and juicy size cooked to order like a good bar/grill.  The tasty toppings do make up for it though.

i'm surprised that the name "chefburger" doesn't clue more people in to what they might expect.

Dude, say what????

The burger was ENORMOUS.   This was no Town Topic.  It was like 2 back-yard burgers on one pattie.   I had to labor to finish it.
