Definitely open, but generally not until 5pm, and closed Sunday and Monday unless there is a special engagement.  Food almost completely curtailed. Pizza slices, tacos maybe... maybe...

They have started calling it the Studio Music Venue to reflect the change.

But they are hanging in there. I heard three or four local joints have had to close down recently. Tough competition round there, y'know?

Next Saturday there is an early show featuring the Last Call Girls.  Should be a blast, as usual!

I'm so sorry. I should have mentioned they were taking a few days off for the holiday.  There was a small sign on the door when we left yesterday. Hmm...

They will definitely be open 5pm Saturday, and the regular schedule will be Weds. thru Sat. 5pm- 1:30 am.

That's good to hear.  I really think things will turn around in a few months as the P&L loses the "shiny & new factor and people start going back to their regular spots more often.  As for the smokers, it seems they might be finally starting to miss their spots too.  Hang in there!

I don't have details, but I know that the place is closed for a while due to liquor license issues.

I was there last Friday for an hour or so.  It was kind of busy; with four (shitty) local hard-rock bands playing.  They seemed to have a good counter-culture vibe going with hippie types playing on the sidewalk out front and some punk-rockers and a lot of Converses around.  Left for the Zoo around 11 and the place was pretty full, which is good, I suppose.  The crowd looked pretty young and college-ish, so I wonder if their problems weren't with underage drinking?  Had someone carding at the door though that seemed to be pretty thorough.  Not really my scene anymore, but looks like they had finally nailed down something of an identity; hope their problems aren't serious.

No, underage was never a problem.  The "cool kids" of the next generation rebel by NOT drinking! They were destined to close some time ago, but they attempted to surf, to skate another day... by paying staff and deliveries as priorities....but evenings filled with Last Call Girls or Rocket To Saturn didn't quite cover the bureaucratic basics...

Ah, the potentially canceled shows make me weep....

So they're officially done, eh? That sucks.  :(

What's going to happen to the space?

I've heard a rumor about a potential interested party as well.  Don't know if it's the same rumor.  The rumor I've heard would likely result in it reopening.

Hopefully it reopens as a bar that has any idea what they are doing.

If the rumored buyer is the one I've heard the rumor about, it's someone who has extensive experience with running a bar that works.  Not necessarily one of my favorites, but one that works.

Hmmm, now I assume the worst - will we see a Kelly's, Harpo's, or Amierca's Pub "North"?

Any new information about this site?

Also, has anyone gone to the third floor? Has it been kept even remotely original up there? I wonder how much of Louis Curtiss's old apartment is still there. I assume none..
