This town of 150,000 is finally getting what suburbs as small as 10,000 have been getting for years.

A new Super Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot with be built at I-70 and the Turner Diagonal area. This is in addition of course to hotels, theaters and the others at the speedway.

What's next a Target, Kohls? Go KCK, big deal for our little (and troubled) brother KCK.

I'm impressed that the location is east of I-435. It's actually a nice central location in the county, rather than out on the fringe. Hopefully it will help stabilize the eastern half of the county and maybe even push some momentum further east towards the area inside I-635.

Anyone know how this came about? Was the city pushing the location, or did a developer choose it? Any tax incentives?

Crazy, isn't it? Shawnee Station is another example. Those two do that all the time, like Walgreens, Osco and Eckerd plunk down next to one another.
