Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelo
They were doing some demo work in those buildings last year (?) so they might be ready for tenants soon.
Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelo
They were sold to the empty labs but haven't announced plans yet.
Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelo
Plans have come out for Metcalf South.
Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelo
Much of the plan, Buckley said, will depend on the City of Overland Park to come forward with attractive incentives to come up with a fresh concept. Ideally, Buckley and his team would tear the site down completely and start fresh.
The team also knows it wants the project to be mixed-use, but isn’t sure whether they will vertically integrate uses... Buckley said his team will steer away from structured parking – a concept that’s not hot in Kansas City, where shoppers want to drive right up to storefronts.
He’s also looking to accommodate young mothers, who want more walking trails throughout the development, enhanced with nicely landscaped paths.
What Buckley did reveal for certain is that Red Lobster will remain, as will the Sears location.

And alluded to needing incentives for anything other than a strip mall with a walking trail. And the comment about structured parking...not every store can have front door parking. If you build something that entices patrons, they will use structured parking - Park Place is an example.

As is Oak Park Mall, which itself helped hasten Metcalf South's demise.kcjak wrote:And alluded to needing incentives for anything other than a strip mall with a walking trail. he did say that Sears might be for sale. Nothing about Olive Garden.
Okay Townhomes or Condos facing Barkley Street.Like Menards and others facing Metcalf Ave. Sears moving to Auto Center space,Glenwood Theater move to Southwest part of back Parking lot. Inline spaces like maybe Shopko,Grander Mountain,Stage,Winco and so on. Maybe like Revolution or Main Event to on a Pad Site. Pizza Ranch in Buffet old building.

I seriously doubt the Glenwood Theater will relocate to a new building. The Fine Arts people have never had a totally new facility; they've always been remodels. And they just shuttered their Red Bridge location... so unless they get a huge subsidy I don't see this happening.mgsports wrote:he did say that Sears might be for sale. Nothing about Olive Garden.

January announcement of Mixed Use Development for it. Kroneke Group also bought former Hy-Vee that's going to Storage Mart.

Not much new. Theater actually might relocate, and it sounds like it will have to close in its present location no matter what. Developers still not commenting on a Walmart coming (so of course one probably is).

walmart likely depends on if Mission goes for the tax credits.mistervinix wrote:http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/n ... -this.html
