A Menards home improvement store will be coming to the area near Legends Outlets Kansas City — at a space adjacent to the troubled Schlitterbahn Waterpark and the Pinnacle National Development Center.

The new store location, at 1301 N. 98th St. in Kansas City, Kansas, will be similar to the company's four other locations in the metro. Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott said in a statement that the company is moving through the approvals process on the location.
But not sure how true this statement still is....
The chain also plans to build a store on a 38-acre greenfield site in Shawnee, west of Kansas Highway 7, that will include a store, garden/shipping center and warehouse.

It's going into Waterside Development by Open Area who's developing it.

While I personally prefer Schlitterbahn over Oceans of Fun, I don't expect it to survive. But wouldn't it be prudent to leave the property intact to make it more attractive to a different water park company? I guess I haven't moved on from the initial proposal for a true resort with tree house bungalows and river transportation. :(

The home improvement store is part of a larger development called Waterside. Located at Interstate 435 and State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, the project would include 10 retail and restaurant spots in the 10,000- to 31,500-square-foot range, according to an AREA Real Estate Advisors online flyer marketing the property.

In addition, at another nearby tract, the development calls for 14,000 square feet of retail between the HCA Inc. medical office building at 1601 N. 98th St. and the Dairy Farmers of America Inc. headquarters, along with a cluster of commercial buildings along the project's State Avenue border.

That includes nine buildings, three of which are identified as restaurants, and two of those are leased by unnamed companies. Of the six stores along the retail strip, one is leased, and another has a letter of intent.

Actually that has to be older as there is no Menards in that rendering!

yes I think its old - unfortunately the Menards looks like it takes up the majority of the site and includes an outdoor lumberyard component.

https://openarea.com/menards-becomes-pa ... velopment/ This is where rending came from. I would say building going left to right Menards.

Given there's already a building on one side, not to the left...

Menards is well underway. None of those illustrations for Village East show anything remotely resembling the current construction. Speaking of Village West, what happened to the Hard Rock hotel project?
