Zonkers was rumored to have plans to lease the old Dillons grocery. City of Olathe said no because their is a liquor store located within the same strip mall. Kaw Valley Nursery still does it's thing in the parking lot from April through June, and this year a shaved ice stand opened in the vacant bank building parking lot.
Anyone know of plans for the west end of the strip mall and/or bank building?
I would think the real estate developer that owns/operates that corner should do a serious renovation including a face lift to the structures and parking lot/curb re-surfacing.

Used to be a manager at Zonkers here. They're never reopening. Sold everything off about a year ago and recently closed their other location at Oak Park Mall.
There WAS a lease in place and preliminary blueprints drawn up but the entire thing was a mess from the get-go. Price Chopper had 1 year left on their lease (Yes, as they were closed) and we were to sub-lease it through them. The owner of the building was hesitant because after that 1 year, they weren't sure what they were going to do with the building in regards to a tenant. Nothing ever made it to the City Council regarding the relocation. The only thing that was in line for their meetings was the special uses permit, which got cancelled by Zonkers when things went south. City Council then dropped it off their schedule.
The Great Mall really dropped the ball with closing and giving not much notice in regards to having to relocate. You can't plan a new location of that scale and size in merely ~6 months. Zonkers was never going to find a space of that size for the amount of money they paid (~$1500 a month for 29,000sqft). This is part of the reason Oak Park was closed - The bigger store supported it (~$2500 a month for ~1400sqft, with rent doubling in November and tripling in December).

Zonkers doesn't exist anymore and won't for the forseeable future. They aren't moving anywhere.
