Obviously no official announcement has been made. The deal could be fake or it just hasn't been finalized yet. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if a department store like that wants to get in on the retail action going on between 119th and 135th street. The demographics are definitely right for a store like Bloomingdale's.
Too small of a market for Bloomingdale's probably

At first I thought the same thing; however, I think it's plausible given the buying power of the surrounding area(s). Additionally, the market is growing and a name like Bloomingdale's would draw shoppers from across the region. We saw that when Nordstrom opened in '98.

This is a pretty cool deal, though it saddens me that this attraction is what I consider waythehell out there. I suppose I will visit when I need to go to REI.

I'm giving it 1.5/5 stars

The glass on the outside is really cool.
Parking is in a large 6-story garage down the block, not a huge lot so it's relatively compact.

But the museum is way underwhelming. For the base cost they have a dinosaur exhibit, a small interactive dinosaur exhibit, a wall with science-related photos, a gift shop and soon a cafe.

Then you pay more for a traveling exhibit area. Apparently some space exhibit is coming soon to replace the current paid one.
There's another premium for a kids area.
Or a bigger cost for both premium areas

Should just have one higher cost for the whole place.

There's some wetlands or something that they don't even mention when you're there.

And that's it.

And it's a nitpick, but the details aren't there. Think of the Nelson. You have that desk in their new main entry hall to pay for premium products Now imagine the pricing sign was on the far side of the hall well beyond a ticket only area. In this case the museum put this sign on the far side of the main hall from the pay station. They ended up having to explain the cost to *everyone* because of this oversight, no one could read the prices and most people didn't know it was there.

Save the trip unless you're going to the area for another reason

Checked out the Cinetopia theater tonight. Amazing place; puts to shame anything AMC has done in this area. The museum is across the street and the nighttime lighting is stunning. You really don't feel like you are in Overland Park; it felt like a very nice resort area to be honest. I would predict Prairefire will become extremely popular.

I was at the free social media movie event a couple weeks ago and bought the Groupon to try it out for a night out, however, A LOT of my friend's that have gone to the grand opening have given pretty rough reviews of the theater in regards to staffing, crowd control, parking issues in the garage and inconsiderate guests (children/teens). Some don't intend to return. Hopefully, when I go, they will have worked out some of these problems.
